I dont think Martz was the decision maker in acquiring Faulk and drafting guys like Winstrom, Holt, Hakeem,Pace,Little,etc,etc, and signing free agents like Prohl,Warner,Timmerman etc. Martz may have had some input but most head coaches would'nt let the offensive cordinator have the final say on the draft.
You're exactly right. Vermeil had the say-so in drafting/trading for the players to fit this system.
Vermeil was very up front in who's system this is. Which is why he lobbied for Martz as head coach when he retired from the Rams.
All we know is, they did a whale of a job putting the right players in the slots.
