I like the ML on Virginia in this one. At CRIS, you can get +125.
I think its really a toss up in this one, so give me the team getting 5:4. Maryland has not been impressive on the road this year against good teams. They lost to Oklahoma, an inferior team, and got whipped by Duke after hanging tough. They beat, but did not dominate NCST and G.Tech on the road.
That said, they've sort of been on a roll, handling Clemson at home, and spanking Wake and FSU most recently, while playing some good team defense.
Terps have had recent problems with Virginia at Charlottesville losing their last two there, as a better team. Virg. has been equally as impressive as Maryland against the lesser ACC competition but now they're coming home after a disappointing Duke loss in which they had it tied at the half. I think they'll be fired up, though I don't usually put much stock in that. They have had a couple of big ACC losses, including one at home to NCST where Mason Jr. shot only 28% from the floor. If he does that tonight, they're cooked.
Either way, it should be a good game, with the possibility of Dixon and Mason Jr. both going for +18, if they get rolling. The o/u is 160, and I'd lean towards the over because both these teams can go for 80 without even thinking about it, not to mention they both can shoot free throws well (though not great) so if it is close at the end, they could be putting up points with no time running off.
But, IF you're going to play Virginia +2, just forget about the points because the +125 (compared to -110) is very worthwhile. They are available at +3.5 (-110) at SIA, which is attractive, but if they get a ML up, it might be worth giving it a look.
Any further thoughts appreciated.
