Outright plays (1.5pts):

Robert Allenby to win 12/1 e.w. available generally
I don't see what Allenby has done to make him so much the outsider of the four leading players. Lonard will face incredible pressure to win for a fourth straight week, Appleby has just got back from Sun City and Scott has faced public criticism for playing in a Skins game rather than his national Open and missed the cut last week. Allenby, on the other hand, is the defending champion with an excellent record on this course, has finished in the top-10 in his last three events in Florida, Japan and Australia and hasn't finished outside the top-10 in an event in Australia since February 2002.

Craig Parry to win 25/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
Persevering with Parry. He has shown good form recently even though he hasn't managed to stay in the top-5 until the end of Sunday in recent weeks. A former winner on this course and defeated by Allenby last year only after a playoff, it all points to Parry being there or thereabouts on Sunday yet again.

Richard Green to win 33/1 e.w. available generally
Green's record on this course is not as impressive, but a 5th place finish two years is evidence that he can provide a return on this play this year. And he does enter this event in very good form with top-20 finishes in each of his last four starts. It was a slow start last week, which was understandable after he gave away a golden opportunity to win the Australian Open the previous week, but he finished strongly and should close out his season with a high finish this week.

Matchup plays (1.5pts unless stated):

Steve Allan to beat Jarrod Moseley -120 @ Centrebet [3pts]
Two players clearly struggling with confidence, but I'll side with Allan. He's missed two cuts on the bounce, but at least had shown good form on the PGA Tour beforehand. Moseley, on the other hand, has missed nine of his last twelve cuts, so this should be decided before the weekend.

Robert Allenby to beat Adam Scott +105 @ Olympic [3pts]
A logical play from what was written in the outright preview. Just can't believe that Allenby is odds-against in this match!
(available generally)

Peter Lonard to beat Adam Scott -113 @ Pinnacle [3pts]
The Tour's hottest player against one who is facing a lot of public criticism and which probably caused his missed cut last week. Lonard should continue his great form around this course; Scott will be wanting the season to end and the controversy to die away.

Gavin Coles to beat Paul Gow -111 @ Paddy Power and SIA
Two players who have been concentrating on the Nationwide Tour this season, but it is Coles who has been playing the better golf recently. Gow has yet to finish ahead of him in any of their last five common events.

Steve Conran to beat Paul Gow -110 @ SkyBet [3pts]
Also opposing Gow with Conran who has had a great season on the Japan Tour, particularly since his win in August. A top-15 in the Australian Open two weeks ago before returning for the Nippon Series JT Cup and and two top-15 finishes in his last two visits to Huntingdale are enough indication that the leaderboard should again feature Conran.

Steve Conran to beat Paul Sheehan -111 @ William Hill
Sheehan did win the event in Japan last week, but his form has been nowhere near as good as Conran in the last few months. It was the first time in their last seven common events that Conran had failed to finish ahead of him. Can't see it happening for two weeks in a row.

John Senden to beat Peter Senior -111 @ William Hill [3pts]
A repeat of last week's most frustrating matchup when a bogey on the last hole meant that Senden tied with Senior and that meant a loss on the triple-play. A rather costly bogey! Okay, the same reasons why this was a selection last week still apply this week and Senior's course form is not as impressive with Senden finishing ahead of him in two of the last three years here. This should go some way to making amends for last week!

Outrights - FINAL RESULT: 1-2; +27.94pts

Allenby 21st
Parry 29th
Green 1st

With all three players in the top-10 after two rounds, I was hopeful of a decent return, but it always looked like it would be Allenby who would win it. Green is certainly a surprise winner, particularly as Bradley Hughes had a one-shot lead on the last tee and took a double-bogey!

Matchups - FINAL RESULT: 2-4-1; -7.40pts

Allan/Moseley LOST by 11
Allenby/Scott TIED (Push)
Lonard/Scott WON by 3
Coles/Gow WON by 1
Conran/Gow LOST by 5
Conran/Sheehan LOST by 5
Senden/Senior LOST by 2

Senden loses to Senior again and Allenby has three bogeys in the last four holes to snatch a tie from victory. But can't complain about luck after Green's win and if both matches had won, it would have a very small profit on the plays - not good enough.
