In the pre-game interview tonight on Brewers radio, Stairs was talking about not swinging the bat right away. He noted that the pitcher is forced to throw more pitches this way. He stated that you also stand a chance of getting a walk, and getting on base.
He stressed how important this is, but his math leaves a little something to be desired:
