This is a degenerate special. The majority of the big names will use this week as a vacation. However, I am surprised with the strength of this field.

Dimarco 50/1
Baird 45/1 - If he is gonna win, its gonna be on a crap event like this one.
Van Pelt 60/1 - See above
Toledo 125/1 Love him on these type of courses

Kevin Stadler -125 over Roland Thatcher 72 holes

Always scary betting on Kevin Stadler, lets just hope hes focused in on golf and not the margaritas and coronas .. I doubt Roland is fully healthy.

I really like Toledo again this week.
Q. Outside of a major, is this the tournament for you to win?
ESTEBAN TOLEDO: It would be the greatest thing that could happen for M?xico is for me to win here. It would be fantastic. On the other hand, I've made 145 cuts, and I need 150 cuts. So it could be huge tomorrow, if I can win, then there will be less pressure for me in my life. But it's going to be an exciting day tomorrow.

Went back and read some notes.. and transcripts.
Riley has a good history here, but has started the year off really shaky. Still debating this matchup. :(

Mark Brooks -105 over Scott Gucheski

Just fading Scott who is a bomber. Hazards all over this course. Brooks is short and fairly straight and has some decent rounds this year. He also has played 8 rounds here to Scott's zero. Only half unit on this and im done with this bs tourney.. GL :mj06:

Anyone know what they are referring to?
Q. Did you poke your head into the little cavern on the first hole?
BILLY ANDRADE: Oh, yeah, yeah. I went down. I didn't go all the way in it. I just went down and took a peek. Ziggy kind of went down under there, and I --

Q. Got a little squeamish?
BILLY ANDRADE: I did. I don't want anything to fall.

Q. Well, the secret is -- and I haven't done this, I heard it from others -- if you go all the way through it it comes out right behind the second green, right between the second green and the third tee box.
BILLY ANDRADE: Well, you know, there's alligators and snakes and stuff like that, and I don't want to meet any of those guys

Q. Did you peak your head into that cavern?
DAVID TOMS: I did. That was interesting. It gives you a good target off the first tee. Just a nice, neat design feature. I thought it was fine.
Obviously it shouldn't be in play for us. If it was in the middle of an in-play fairway it would be kind of rinky-dink. But for now, I guess it's a nice little conversation piece.

Q. You're not adventurous enough to go down there and talk about it?
DAVID TOMS: No. I saw some little lizards and some other alligator looking things. I'm gonna stay out of there.

Round 1 plays (1pt):

Brian Gay to beat Kevin Na +105 @ SkyBet [tie loses]
Dean Wilson to beat Kevin Na -111 @ Bet365
Backing Gay once again in the first round - he has played in five events so far this year and has finished the 1st round under-par every time, a feat matched by Wilson in his last five starts this year. And given that this will not be an easy course on which to make his debut, Na could struggle early on against Gay who is the defending champion and against Wilson who was also in the top-10 early on last year.

Jarrod Lyle to beat James Nitties -105 @ Five Dimes
Nitties may have finished 4th in the FBR Open earlier this month, but this course is very different to the desert courses of Arizona. That week is the only time that Nitties has either shot a lower 1st round score or finished ahead of Lyle in any event since the start of 2008 season. With Lyle making the cut easily in his previous appearance here, he should once again finish the week higher up the leaderboard than Nitties.

Alex Cejka -125 over Tom Lehman

Fading Tom hurt me 2 weeks ago even though he missed the cut. Cejka has at least shot rounds in the 60's this year and had a nice tourney here last year.

Thats it for the Mayakoba.. I looked long and hard at fading Gronberg who returns to tour this week for the first time this year, but passed.

Just noticed Bo is in the lead.. This has epic collapse written all over it. I have a sick memory for unimportant things, but when I think of BVP I think of the BS field event last year in Puerto Rico where he completely gagged coming in. :0corn Should be fun to watch, he is right up there with Tim Clark, Allenby and Glover

(Also a nice 28 coming in)
