but I will be on St. Mary's HUGE tonight. Here are my reasons:
1. Utah is without their star center who was basically the Utes only rebounder (as evidenced by their last game against Whitworth).
2. Utah has only played on the road three times this season. Doubt they will have a great shooting night which they MUST have in order to beat St. Mary's on the road without solid rebounding.
3. Name recognition! Utah is a well known basketball program. . . St. Mary's has always been a cupcake. The Utes should be able to destroy this team right? Any reason why Vegas wouldn't set this line high?
4. When I look at double digit lines, I try and determine whether the favorite is even capable of covering such a line given their style of play. Neither team will run and gun a lot during this game. Ten points should be huge.
Conclusion:
St. Mary's is not a pushover team this year. . . especially at home. Utah's win over Texas looks great until one realizes that the Horns simply had a poor shooting night. Could St. Mary's have a poor shooting night as well? Its certainly possible (as with any team on a given night), but less likely when they are playing at home.
I believe St. Mary's has an excellent chance at pulling off the upset tonight. If not, I can see them fighting to the very end in order to keep the score respectable on their home court. 10 points is huge in this matchup.
