MD Mich

Would love to hear other thoughts on this, and I play college hoops very infrequently. But this Maryland line caught my eye. Just 18 days ago, Mich put a whooping on the Terps 81-46. Other than wins over Illinois fairly early in season and OSU, not much to brag about, and they just got handled by Iowa. Soooo, seeing MD as a 3-point favorite makes me immediately think of Billy Blastoff and that school of logic--how in the world should MD be laying 3 to a team that beat them by 35 just over two weeks ago?

Would love somebody to talk me out of it, but seems like Maryland is a play.

I HAVE ALWAYS TOOK PERCEPTION INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN IM MAKING MY PLAYS AND I COULDN’T AGREE MORE THAT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THIS LINE AND THE RECENT BEAT DOWN MICHIGAN PUT ON THE TERPS YOU WOULD THINK MICHIGAN AND THE POINTS IS A NO BRAINER. THIS IS WHAT I DO KNOW FROM WATCHING AND PLAYING A LOT OF BASKETBALL….IT IS A GAME OF RUNS AND MOMENTUM AND I DON’T PUT A LOT OF STOCK IN THE 35 PT BLOWOUT JUST BECAUSE MICH SHOT THE BALL LIGHTS OUT AND NEVER ALLOWED MARYLAND TO FIND A RHYTHM AND IF YOU HAVE NO RHYTHM OR FLOW TO THE GAME MOST OF THE TIME SHOTS WILL NOT GO DOWN…LITERALLY FEELS LIKE A LID ON THE BASKET. WATCHING THESE 2 TEAMS I THINK THEY ARE VERY SIMILAR AS WELL AS INCONSISTENT. WHEN THEY ARE GOOD THEY BOTH ARE VERY ATHLETIC AND IMPRESSIVE BUT WHEN THEY ARE BAD ITS UGLY AND FRUSTRATING TO WATCH. I THINK THEY BOTH HAVE WON THE GAMES THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE WON OUTSIDE THE MICH LOSS TO CENT MICH AND THEY HAVE LOST TO BETTER TEAMS JUST FROM THE FACT THEY CAN’T SUSTAIN THE GOOD AND ATHLETIC VERSIONS FOR A FULL GAME AGAINST BETTER TALENT.

WITH THAT SAID, I THINK THE LINE IS ACCURATE BUT I LEAN MARYLAND. HOPEFULLY THEY HAVE A LITTLE PRIDE AND PLAY HARD TO REDEEM THAT EMBARRASSING DISPLAY THEY SHOWED LAST TIME OUT.

Thx LP! Yep, agreed--I was just focusing more on the public perception/weird line begging for Mich money. But I appreciate your insight and it makes me feel even more comfortable with throwing a few dollars on MD. :toast:
