This article is about a patient of a friend. This is what he had to say- from 300 seizures a month and a vegetative state to walking into his office and giving him a high five-

"I saw a kid for the first time 10mos ago. Dravet Syndrome (a severe genetic form of epilepsy). Pt was wheelchair bound and G-tube fed, having ~300 tonic clonic seizures a month. Pt could not take benzo's or other anesthetics due to respiratory depression/arrest. Her parents had actually signed a DNR for her because things were so hopeless.
In a last-ditch effort, the neurologist suggested that they might try a High-cannabidiol/Low-THC formulation of medical marijuana.
The kid walked into my office today and sat for an exam and fluoride treatment. Smiled at me and gave me a high-five at the end. She is now averaging 3 seizures a month on no other meds."
