Melo to Knicks - Its official

Denver gets Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors? 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors? 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash. Anthony will go to New York, along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.

Minnesota also is part of this deal, sending Corey Brewer to the Nuggets and getting Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry?s expiring contract from the Knicks.

Carmelo Anthony did not take part in Nuggets practice Monday (although he was set to be on Conan O?Brien?s show Monday night). Chauncey Billups did practice but refused to speak to media when leaving the facility.

The Nuggets also have had talks about flipping some of those Knicks assets ? specifically Felton and Gallinari ? back to the Nets for picks, possibly in a three-team deal that includes Devin Harris and the Mavericks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo.

The Knicks will be hurting this year, next year and possibly forever. With a hard cap more than likely coming it's going to make it impossible for them to sign another star and they're going to need one. They're also going to need a defensive minded center because as it stands now their front court has two pretty bad guys on the d end.

Yeah I don't understand all this hype for Mello. Look at what he has had surrounding him in Denver and still can't advance far except for one year. This is a guy who is a good scorer but doesn't play a lick of defense and has a poor attitude unless his ass is being kissed. Good trade for Denver and Minnesota didn't do too bad in this either.

i think getting Corey Brewer is a nice addition to the knicks. Kid is only 24 with a shit load of potential. problem is the kid plays defense and with this coach who plays defense? Same with Billups. u are not gonna win anything with a coach who likes to run and gun all the time. Melo just started playing a little defense so i guess with this coach he can go back to being a revolving door.

Brewer was a very good college scorer not sure what happen to him. Always thought he would be the next Pippen. Coming out of college he could score, defend and has that great wingspan. This is when u need a guy like this to be drafted by a team like Boston. Kinda like Glen Davis. Glen Davis has grown under those veterans. If Davis would have come to philly he would probably be 400 pounds and out of the league. Im sure Allen, Pierce, and Garnett got on him. Maybe that is what Brewer needs unfortunately i don't think Melo and Stoud are the guys to motivate him. Maybe Billups can.

I loved Brewer coming out of college. I just can't believe the kid can't put on any weight. If there is any coach that will help his offensive game it's D'Antoni. They won't need his scoring but could use his hustle on offense. I've always thought he would be a stud in the NBA on defense but I'm starting to think he's just too light. I hope I'm wrong because I like the kid a lot.

i woulda done whatever i had to to keep felton..

really think he is legit and could have a great career ahead of him...

billups is proven yes, but he is old as balls...

felton/amare/melo woulda been a great place too start from as far as offense. Add a couple guys who dont mind defending and this team coulda competed in the early round of the playoffs each year for sure, maybe more.

if i was the knickss i wolda waited til free agency and gotten melo for less. I know there was risk involved and potentially he wouldnt be avaiblable, but he wanted to be in a knick unifrom badly. he woulda been there.


rumors already starting on espn the radio about how the knicks are gonna be targeting either deron williams/ chris paul in this offseason.

damn.. Melo/amare/CP3 or williams sounds just as nice as felton.

really though i think melo is overrated as an overall talent. you guys all said it, he PLAYS NO DEFENSE...unless i missed something earlier in his career :shrug:
