Have any of you been to Mesquite?

If so, do you have any hotel and golf recommendations?

Thanks for the help.

I've passed thru a couple of times on the way from SLC to Vegas or Southern Cal. This will be a suburb of Vegas in 20-30 years and people are investing in land and homes there as we speak. If I hear of a good hotel I'll let you know.

Mesquite

Not much going on there

2 or 3 casinos that seem to change hands and names every few years...The Peppermill was one of the first there, Virgin River...last stayed at The Copa south end of town. Wd never make this a destination for a vacation...i don't golf but i think there is more than 1 decent course.
I've stayed over night a few times since i drive cross country every year on my way to Las Vegas.

Salt Lake City, Utah
Bohica,

I live in Salt Lake but own a vacation home in Mesquite, primarily for the golf.

There are 6 courses in town, Wolf Creek, The Oasis, The Palms, Casablanca, The Canyons & Falcon Ridge. Wolf Creek is far and away the best, consistantly ranked in top 125 of places you can play in the US. My personal opinion is Oasis is 2nd and after that flip a coin, the Canyons and Falcon Ridge are the newest but the Canyons has some mickey mouse holes.

The main hotel/casinos in town are the Virgin River, The Oasis and the Casablanca ( there is no hotel called the Copa, although this is probably the one hammer ment ).The Casablanca is the newest and nicest, Kathryn's Steakhouse is a great place for a good meal, and if your a pizza guy Bella Pizza is a good local pie, no atmoshere though, get it delivered, and Los Lunas is good mexican food.

When I gamble I prefer the Oasis Casino, always seem to do better there, decent poker room, and the sports books in town are all about the same although I think the Casablanca just remodeled theirs so might be good now.

Also, 37 miles north in St George Utah there are some good golf courses, Green Springs, Sun Brook and Entrada to name a few.

Hope this helps, it ain't Vegas but still a good time to be had and don't miss playing Wolf Creek, it's a treat. When they first opened they had a deal going, Challenge the Wolf, any amatuer could put up $1,000 and if he shot par from the tips they would pay him $10,000. Don't know if anyone ever tried, don't know if was ever done, but good story nonetheless.
