THE METS HAVE WON THE LAST COUPLE OF TIMES THEY PLAYED THIS LINE-UP. PERSONALLY (AND THESE ARE JUST MY THOUGHTS) I WOULD RATHER HAVE RELAFORD, MARK JOHNSON, IN THE LINEUP. ZIELE AND VENTURA HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE. I SEE ALOT OF PEOPLE JUMPING ON THE PADRES AND THAT MIGHT BE THE RIGHT MOVE. BUT FOR MY MONEY I THINK APPIER IS A MUCH BETTER PITCHER THAN TOLLBERG. TOLLBERG HAS BEEN OKAY AS OF LATE BUT I THINK THE METS GET TO HIM EARLY AND OFTEN IN THIS GAME.

You may be right. They certainly did it a couple of weeks ago. That's probably why I'm never caught up.

Good luck.

I agree with you Worm. The guys that are actually playing today have been the productive players for the Mets including Vance Wilson. I also read a snippet from the New York Post which might give some insight to NYM betting for the remainder of the season.

"Valentine also had a full team meeting before last night's game. He said he wouldn't insult the team by telling them to play hard the rest of the way."

Certainly sounds like the white flag to me, but I don't think the guys in the lineup today have any guarantees to just pack in the rest of the season-- spring training in August.

The main factor is the loss of Piazza in this game as far as mets concerned. I think this pushes the game clearly in Padres favor; but if you like the other side, you will be compensated with a better price. I don't see much difference in the other replacement players. If anything, I would agree they have more to play for.
