MIAMI (AP) _ The Chicago Bears agreed Saturday to trade receiver Marty Booker to the Miami Dolphins for unsigned Adewale Ogunleye _ if the Bears can reach a contract agreement with the Pro Bowl defensive end, a source close to the negotiations said.
The source, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said Ogunleye and the Bears were not yet close to a deal, but talks were continuing. Ogunleye led the AFC with 15 sacks last season and made the Pro Bowl for the first time.
Dolphins general manager Rick Spielman would not confirm that a deal was pending.
``I'm not going to make a comment until there's an official announcement to be made,'' he said.
Bears spokesman Scott Hagel said the team had no news to report.
Ogunleye's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, declined to comment.
For the Dolphins, the deal would shore up a receiving corps depleted by injuries, including David Boston's season-ending knee injury. The Bears have been seeking to upgrade their pass rush, and starting end Alex Brown has been sidelined this summer by a sprained calf muscle.
During the offseason Ogunleye declined to sign the one-year, $1.824 million tender the Dolphins extended to him, and negotiations on a long-term deal reached a standstill in May.
Ogunleye _ mindful of a college knee injury that probably cost him millions _ wants more guaranteed money than the Dolphins have offered. This week he reiterated that he's willing to sit out the first 10 games, then make himself available for the final six games to become a free agent after the season.
Booker, a possession receiver, had 100 catches for 1,071 yards in 2001, and 97 for 1,189 yards in 2002, when he made Pro Bowl. He missed three games with ankle injury last season and was limited to 52 receptions for 715 yards.
Booker was a third-round draft pick in 1999 from Northeast Louisiana. Ogunleye signed with Miami as an undrafted free agent after playing at Indiana.
