Miami/SD Quarter Lines??

Has anyone seen the 1Q-4Q lines?

Here's how one book has them...

Can somebody please explain to me how that works? They have Miami at -6.5 for the game, but don't favor them by more than half a point in any one quarter?

I'm thinking about throwing a play down on every quarter of this game on Miami.

SD won against a horrible defense. They aren't going to stop Ricky and are going to have the fires and everything else on their mind - much more than Miami will. Miami's D is going to be tough tonight too. I see Miami in a romp, but I don't know...

If anyone can explain the quarter lines to me, I'd appreciate it. I mean, at least one point, if not 1.5, would make sense.

Well, its kinda simple really. You are looking at this like a baseball game or basketball game really. You have to look at this like a football game. Scoring isn't 1 point in football rather than a minimum of 2, although in all reality 3. Safeties are possible, but no lines are based on them. You are betting rather if you side with miami that they will score more than sd. in any given quarter. For example, 3-0, 7-6, 14-7, are all examples where miami would cover. However, what works against you is 0-0, 3-3, 7-7. Vegas or offshore is right to make the line only 1/2 because in any tie quarter you will lose, or any quarter that sd scores more you will lose. I'm not a proponent of quarter betting, although some live by it. Just my opinion. Forget the number as 1/2 and just look at it like your are betting miami to win that particular quarter and you lose if there is a draw. Hope that helps and good luck with your wagers.
