Latest from Fort Schembechler is that Henne is VERY DOUBTFUL for Saturday. His shoulder is not responding to treatment as hoped and he very likely will not play Saturday.

Good info......lifelong fan and season ticket holder here......on a scale of 1-10, what is your confidence that Mallett can get the job done in Henne's absence......same question for the Defense.
I have confidence in this team on a one game at a time basis.....heck even one possession at a time.
My answers:
Mallett: 5........will the coaches open up the playbook with him? I do think Mallett could evade the rush MSU has to offer better than Henne.....they ought to throw deep once every 4 or 5 plays to Manningham and just see what happens!
Defense: 7.5......cant believe it, but i've liked what i've seen there as far as improvement goes. Still feel like MSU will rip off a few big runs, but I like the way they've been pressuring the QB and forcing TO's......they will keep that up on Saturday.....overall, it is the youngest D i can ever remember them fielding and I've been watching since the late 1970s, and I've liked how they've rebounded.

This is usually the time of year Sparty goes on tilt. I thought things would be different with the new coach but there have been too many years of quitting and underachieving to overcome.
