Yeah, he said that he took some of his Baltimore winnings and layed it on the D-Backs. This was a "hometown bet" more than anything.

This year, he has St. Louis Rams to win Superbowl.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but he was at Game 7 sitting in the front row on the 3rd base side. Anytime the camera angle was on a right-handed batter in the box, you could see him in the background. So not only was he there to root on his hometown boys, he had a little vested interest as well.

To bad that these winnings cant come close to covering his losses. I guess when youre rich and famous they dont thin you have a problem.

Was Arizona actually 35 to 1, given that they were a recent playoff team and had Johnson and Schilling?

I am thinking this story is total BS, some urban legend that is believable given the story about Mickelson and the Ravens bet.

Could be wrong, but extremely unlikely the Diamondbacks were anywhere near 35-1 to win the World Series..would have to think around the 10 or 15-1 area.

Didn't a few joints put up some, big numbers after NY was up 3 & 2. So you could just play that number. OR could be the story had it wrong. At start of year they were 20 or 25 to 1. But my memory is not that good.

Phil is very much into sports betting. especially, NFL.
Watch for me to post his picks every Friday in the NFL forum.

Its kinda funny....I never liked Phil , "the golfer" but after hearing him every week on the radio, giving his NFL picks against the spread, I kinda like him.

Obviously you doubt the credibility of my post reporting the lack of etiquette by Mr. Michelson. My people are in the trenches daily and it's no "urban legend"(TM/ScottL) that the man has no class.

BTW, WTF does a guy from Bobcat, Ohio know about the happenings in the Mirage, Las Vegas? I live here. Maybe Fletcher can shed a little light on this subject.

It's a good thing he won that bet. It might make up for all his NFL losers he gives out Fridays on the Dan Patrick Show, lol. Golf would be a real easy game to fix too if you are an elite golfer like Phil...

Ron,
Didn't notice this until you chose to bring it up instead of answering my question to you at MW.

I played craps with Phil at The Mirage. He was personable and as generous tokin the boys as anyone else I've played with. He didn't come off as rude or cocky at all, unlike the stories I've heard about Rodman (from dealers who dealt to him ). He was a very little bit whiney about losing, but didn't take it out on anyone and wasn't classless, IMHO. He joked with other players and was nice to me and the rest of the table. I mentioned playing with Mickelson later that trip, to several dealers, and they said he was decent to them as well. They all said that Rodman was the worst and that golfers tend to be nicer than the NBA stars they get. This was during the LV tournament and they had a lot of Tour Players going through. I base my opinion of Mickelson on firsthand experience and observations on that trip and at that pit.

So, IMHO, I think these unfounded rumors that spread about the Ravens bet are BS. It doesn't matter where I live, that is my opinion. If you have personal experience that makes you hate him, fine! Contacts in the trenches, LOL!

I also think this BS about toking s/b ticket writers makes no sense. Why, what the heck did they do? They punched in a few numbers, BFD. What would have been an appropriate toke, 10%? I find the whole story stupid. It may well be an urban legend, it has all of the elements. Jealousy, impossible to prove, "someone I know said"/foafs, the "he didn't even tip the cabbie" kicker, etc. It is classic urban legend form, fit, and function.

Ron,
I have no doubt you HEARD THIS RUMOR, but that doesn't make it true. Those who spread urban legends aren't liars, and I've never even hinted you lied about anything. I just don't believe this story!

You are entitled to disagree, so be it!

hey Ron.......do you know how I can send some of my winnings back to the on-line casino after I win a bet? Just was wondering......I feel obligated to do so.....

Also -- How about when the Casino has a great day -- do they tip its workers a certain percentage of the take....like 10-20%? Or do they "stiff" them too?
