The update is important and is worth the time to install
Noone has all the answers, but this update along with the Adaware program will eliminate most of your nightmares

I also recommend a program called Zonealarm
It is a free, simple to install firewall product that you can download from CNET.com

If you want even better security, think about installing an anonymous proxy server program

But, to keep it simple, get the spyware off your machine, update Windows, and install a firewall

Even at that, there are still ways to get in for the right people
When you get a chance,
Watch a movie called Swordfish--

Dr. Raider,

There's not a movie out that can parallel to the knowledge and diligence it takes to be a real hacker. I saw Swordfish, which showed that so-called hacker banging away at his keyboard and then getting clearance to a network -- that's not how it works, that's only showbiz.

Take a look at this link and read some of the interviews they have with some of the most notorious hackers who are now sitting fatter than a rat off of their "accomplishments" of breaking into the biggest and most secured networks out there.

It's good stuff.

Thanks again for the updates! :)

Thanks Monk and others for the replies--

We could go on about security issues forever--

As far as the registry issues, the spyware removal program has never screwed up anything I have ever heard of

Having said that, be careful with some of the freeware and shareware Windows Cleaners out there

They can remove files that can screw up some of your programs

The spyware removal software is SAFE--
