Minnesota at Michigan(-8)

Immediately (before any research) I lean towards Minnesota even after a poor showing at undefeated Penn State. Averaging nealry 300ypg on the ground is usually a good formula for keeping games close.

Michigan coming off an emotional win.

However.....Michael Hart (Mich) is back and healthy. Key TE Massaqoi is back on the field (hand cast), and Henne has been pretty efficient (sans 2 key fumbles).

Somebody help me make up my mind!!

I LOVE Mich here.

Minny sucks ass on the road.

Game won't even be close.

Mich blows their doors in.

...who has minny played? ...who has mich played?

-8.... nope, pass. :)

Probably showing how green I am, but Ive been reading these forums for quite a while taoist, and have enjoyed your takes and plays.

Just curious why youd choose to stay away from this one?

...my thoughts are probably worth exactly what you're paying for them, but FWIW, here they are....

I like Minny...no, take that back.... I like Maroney. I have him in my ncaa fantasy league. Minny's RB core is leading the league in rushing and I am really considering putting them on the pine this week after that pathetic showing last week. As has already been mentioned, Minny usually shines in the first few games, which are usually at home and almost always against poor opponents.... When they get into conference play, they usually lay an egg, which is what you saw at Penn St last week. When a defense can slow down and/or stop Minny's running game, they make them one dimensional, which is what most defenses try to do.... The difference is when you can do that to Minny, there is no passing game to make up the slack.... Cuputo (sp?) sucks IMHO. I sure wouldn't want my back door cover in his hands at the end of the game.... This week they are not at home and not facing "poor" competition...and if Mich makes them throw the ball, I don't see Cuputo getting the job done.

...all that being said, you may be wondering why I wouldn't be all over mich. well, the main reason is fawking lloyd carr.... i simply don't trust him...especially as -7+ chalk.... I don't care if he's at the big house or not.... mich seems to play down to the competition.... maybe its a personal preference, but i just hate playing mich in conf play at anything over a TD.

could minny get the ground game going and maroney have a field day like at purdue? not likely. could mich shut down the run like at penn st? maybe. probably something in between. anyway, bottom line is the line seems to beg for minny money...so it's mich or pass and i just can't justify laying the chalk with lloyd carr, who never seems to run up the score.... good luck whatever you decide to do...and good luck this weekend. :)

Very well said. I think 7-8 is pretty sharp here. UM is in a tough spot though. Penn State is a bigger rivalry than people realize and beating MSU in overtime is an emotional drain. Conversely, Minny points to the Michigan game every year and is dying to finally win one of these close ones vs Mich. All depends on whether or not they can stop Hart, and I say not. Mich 31-24.

D.O.C.
I'm a Michigan fan and Taoist hit the nail on the head. Michigan and Lloyd Carr play down to their level of competition. When the 4th quarter comes rolling around, Lloyd plays not to lose, instead of playing to win.

In the Wisconsin game, Lloyd must of had his back turned when that flea ficker was called.

Anyway, Michigan was called out last week and being the Dog in the Michigan St game, was a wake up call. They got Mike Hart back and the team played with a chip on their shoulder. Lloyd was quoted as, "never in my life have I felt like my team was the underdog in any game, this week I feel that."

Which Michigan team will show up? Who knows.... But you know what you get with Minny on the road. They were 0-4 SU on the road last year during conference play. Losing by a margin of 17.5 points a game. Throw in last weeks performance, well you see the picture.

But Minny looks for this game every year and I feel Minny will move the ball against Michigan and may even jump out to an early lead. I don't think Michigan will dominate Minny like Penn State did even though they are capable of it.

Maroney will get on track this game(I hope so, I also have him in my fantasy league). It won't be so easy for Michigan. I will most likely pass on this game also. But if had to choose, I would take Minny and the 8.

I can't see why you guys would take Minny here.

Mich is one of my favorite plays this week.

Minny was better last year then they are this year, and even though the score was close between these two last year, it was just because of a few long runs by Minny RB's.

Well now they are down to one RB, as one headed off to try his luck in the NFL.

Mich will only have to focus on Maroney and I don't see Minny being able to move the ball againast this Mich defence. I like Mich by two touchdowns.

I am going to take them straight up laying the 8, and I am also going to take them even larger in a teaser.

I guess it is possible that Minny scores late and gets back door cover, but NO WAY do they win this thing.

Mich is just too good, and Minny is herendous on the road.
