I thought I would do a "kumbaya"-themed "suicide" watch kind of thread for some possible current events. Heard this morning that Joe Mauer's agent is at Twins Spring Training today, meeting with the Twins. Could signal a deal might actually be close to getting done.

Please, God, let it be so.

On a related note, Brett Favre is scheduled to appear on Jay Leno tonight. Hours before Free Agency begins, and a little before the NFL draft. Heard that the Vikings are only asking a #3 draft pick in return for another team signing Tarvaris Jackson, which seems realistic if they think Favre is coming back. Plenty of hints from players and coaches that seem to think he is. But, he's Brett Favre, as we all know.

Please, God, let him announce tonight that he's coming back, at an amazingly perfect time to do it.

We've endured plenty over the past few years. Maybe "The Pieces Might Actually All Fall Into Place" over the next few days. Dare to dream, fellow 'Sota fans...

The Twins MUST sign Mauer and I have to believe that from what I am hearing they are getting close to a deal. Joe really wants to stay in Minnesota.. The deal will probably be in the 10 year 250 million range.. Can't wait to go to some games this year.. I know I will be making the late May trip with some Brewer buddies and then from then on I plan to make many trips with the warm weather..

Now onto Favre.. PA on the KFAN is 100% convinced that Favre is coming back and some of the players think he is coming back.. I think if they told him that he could skip training camp he would already announce that he was coming back.. But who knows how long it took for his body to recover from that Saints game..

Draft wise I think the Vikes will be looking for a Corner. Griffin is going to miss most of the season.. Maybe we can trade or sign a decent veteran.. It sucks that they are limited to who they can sign due to finishing in the top 8.. With most of the pieces in place it would be nice to add something special.

We have partial (very) season tickets in the new stadium. Supposedly pretty nice seats, protected from the sun and rain, if those things happen. Or, more like snow, early and late...

I think this team is as well prepared to go a long ways as any since I've been here. Pitching good (possibly very good), defense good, hitting very good, speed good, manager one of the top five in the league. New park, sold out all year - should be fun!

Well, of course that was too much to ask for a Minny fan. Guess we'll have to wait through the summer again for Mr. Wonderful. Have to think he's coming back, though. I didn't necessarily think so before, but the general feeling is he'll be back. I'd still draft a QB this year, probably in the early 3/4 rounds.
