A pair of division leaders match-up for the first time ever in the regular season tonight when the NL West-leading Giants host the AL Central-leading Twins.
San Francisco are 35-21 overall and have won five of their last six at Pac Bell Park. Giants starter Damian Moss had lost three straight starts before beating the Diamondbacks Wednesday when he allowed just 2 runs through 6 1/3 innings. The Australian left-hander is 6-3, 3.44 ERA overall this season.
Minnesota are 31-24 this season having just been swept four straight by the AL West leading Mariners. Hard-throwing right-hander Joe Mays gets the start tonight and will look to improve on his 6-3 record and 5.48 ERA. He has received solid offensive support in his last two outings which has given him victories despite allowing 8 earned runs over just 11 innings. Mays is looking forward to the challenge of pitching to Barry Bonds. "You have to try and do the little things and not make many mistakes," Mays said. "If there are guys on bases, you're more likely to pitch around him. If nobody's on, you have to accept the challenge and go after him. May the best man win." Mays has a road ERA of more than seven runs over his last five outings.
Our numbers point to 8-10 runs being scored tonight and we recommend the Over.
