Hey people
smile.gif
, just a thought here : vegas has the total circled on this game due to possible inclement weather . That , in an of itself IS A FACT ! my question is : WHO does the adverse weather effect more ? Minny who has NOTHING to play for (pride went out the door a looooong time ago with this outfit , or Pitt , who is tied for the best overall record in the AFC ? Lets suppose the weather isn't as bad as forecasted but "not pleasent" at the least . My thinking is : Pitt is motivated to play well with sooo much at stake , where as minn is OBVIOUSLY playing out the string . The worse the weather the better , for pitt. Makes me think , as we get closer to gameday , the WORSE the weather looks , the better Pitts' chances are to cover . hmmm , thoughts ?

I have never seen a professional team actually 'quit' during the season (maybe some NBA teams in specific games they are getting blown out in), but never in NFL.

I think too much credence is put into teams who have given up....not saying that Pitt is the wrong side here....just that this is not a strong reason to play them.

I also don't buy into the weather helping them either. Sure it could, but it could just as easily help Minny get some 'sloppy' scores.......

you should probably tease Pitt if you play them.....but what do I know

Phoenix566 , you "sound" EXACTLY , LIKE I FEEL !

your words have the echo of mine , DOUBT on what IS or isn't right ! As to the weather , my angle is , (and after re-reading my post i see i didn't make it clear) that WHO is MORE motivated to play in bad weather : a team that has NO asperations to the post-season or a team that is tied for best in the AFC ? IMHO "if" the weather is bad , Pitt has MUCH MORE (at stake) TO PLAY FOR then minny who are done . For me it's taken for granted that the "majority" of pro athletes are primma donna's comparatively speaking. So, in "bad" weather , while EACH team may have their turn at "opportunities" Pitt , should be hungrier . Lets find a winner ! Best O luck

I agree on your comment about pro teams "quitting". Let's face it, they get paid based on stats, and you still can have decent stats on a losing team. I don't think pro teams take losing as hard as college players do. How upset can you be when you take a 6 figure paycheck to the bank after each game? That tempers losing quite a bit.

Check out Minny's last 5 road games, this includes last year's playoff in NY. In their last 2 road games they were down 28 & 21 points at the half. Hey, they were afraid of the Bears in,their own dome. How pumped do you think they will be to face a better "D" and the other side has to tackle Bettis all day? Not even close.

i don't see any special angle on this game, neither one in any particular way to "get up" for whatever reason.

what we have here is another classical mis-match, with a team being torn apart for many reasons and another just doing everything right. pitt has no motivation to throw this game out the window, and minny doesn't have the tools to make a game of it.

this should be a normal, blah game, with minny trying desperately to get some scoring and pitt just waiting for gifts. then, as happened with philly on mnf, their offense is quite capable of rising to the ocassion when the circumstances require it. weather or not, it makes no difference, as pitt should easily clear one td in this game.

as with kc, with dallas, and this game, taking the dog is like shooting in the air to see if a bird falls, or throwing a line in the water with only the hook and no bait to see if you "snag" something. sure, out of a thousand or so, something will snag, but those are not my kind of odds.

Dont worry about adverse conditions either. The weather is supposed to be partly cloudy and around 50 degrees. Dont let adverse fool you. Just FYI. Good luck in whatever you play.

I am from MN (a season ticket holder). MN has cancer...It's called MOSSCARTER Syndrome
Until this team establishes a true leader - Culpepper when he grows up a bit- they will be dead in the water on the road. I have a personal thing about betting against my hometeams (hate to root against them), but I truly believe Pitt may smack them around pretty good. MN defense has been playing better, but the BUS like Alstott is the kind of back that gives MN fits. If there is a prop bet on Bettis yards over 100, PLAY IT!

Although I won't play it (I'll stay away)

PITT -7 is a best bet>

Pitts physical style should be way to much for the soft Vikes. They have no heart outside of the Dome. Pit -7 is a very good play even better in a tease!!!!

I will say it again...

How anyone can consider putting money on Minnesota is beyond me. Either play the other side or pass.

Minnesota is the softest team in the league. They get pushed all over the field. Any team that is physical with them can have their way.

Minnesota is a team with no guts or character. last week against Chicago they gave one of the most gutless performances ever. With a chance to turn their season around, coming off their biggest win of the season, playing a hated division rival, they basically rolled over and gave up. If they played a team with any offense they would have lost by thirty.

Moss is a cancer and it has spread. What makes anyone believe that he is going to show up today?

You can take all the trends in the world but they do not correlate to this team, if they can be considered a "team" anymore. Everything about them stinks at this point. i can not imagine them reaching down and giving a good effort today.

I think this is a replay of the game with Philly a few weeks ago. Steelers punish them with phyiscal smashmouth football and Vikes curl up in a ball and wait for the clock to reach zero. They smack Moss every snap and watch him disappear.

I can see Minny losing every game left on their schedule.

But if you look hard enough, you can find stats with "1-8" "0-5" against Pittsburgh. This I am sure of.
