Well, since Nolan and Nick both wrote about, I thought I might tackle it, too.

Note, spoilers follow.

The one detail that keeps coming back to me is the old lady kissing Tom Cruise on the lips. It's basically the only thing in the film that doesn't directly affect the plot one way or another. A very strange interlude, almost like the "Lunch Scene" in Fargo. She does it after whispering in his ear and it almost looks improvised to me. Very odd. Why do you think she did this?

One other "nit pick". The ads on the walls were all targeting Tom Cruise ("you look like you could use a beer Mr. Anderton") but he was in a public place with lots of others around. The "greeter" at the Gap was fine, but the other ads had that minor flaw. It just irked me slightly because so much attention was paid to other details.

BIG SPOILER COMING. DON'T READ ON IF HAVEN'T SEEN IT

Anyway, does it seem to you like after the murder of Leo Crow, Spielberg handed the reins over to Ron Howard or Michael Bay? It ends with the cliche of ambitious politician getting his comeuppance at the party honoring him. The murder scene is showing on the screen with Cruise whispering in his ear -- come on. And then, the old, "face-to-face gun-goes-off who-got-shot?" routine. Awful.

I think this movie should have ended within 10 minutes of the Crow murder with something as simple as Colin Farrell putting the pieces together and taking down Von Sydow. But instead, all the disliked characters have to die while the plot runs on for another 40 minutes saying NOTHING else. And the pre-cog going on and on about "all the love in the house" was making me sick.

Up to the murder, I loved it. Great melding of effects and reality. Creative representation of the future. At least FOUR superb scenes (1. The opening "bust"; 2. The "spider scene"; 3. The chase in the mall; 4. The "eye doctor") but nothing memorable after the murder of Crow.

I'd like to hear what others thought of the "third act". Did I miss the point of it or was it just fluff? I really didn't get it.

Still, much better than most of what I've seen lately. Massive downturn late, but very strong up to that point. Reccommended.
