This line is WAY outta wack by all means....taking TX on the ML!!!! Question to Freeze....How, after all year, are you going to praise Mizzou in this game when all you have talked about is teams with NO POINT GUARDS!!!!! TX has the best pure point guard in the NATION and he is only a FRESHMAN!!!!!! Just like to get your thoughts about this considering that you have informed many people about the BIG 12 not having point guards.....MIZZOU has none........GLTA!!!!

I agree Kevinmac. I really like texas here too. Knowing that the line is created to get even action on both sides, and that Big 12 Home dogs have been doing so well, I think this line is where its at in order to keep from lopsided action on Mizz. Sure I think the book would win this one (i.e Texas covers), they're not willing to take that chance.

Just my opinion!

Go Horns (doh!)

be careful......gilbert playing well at point....getting comfortable.....

Rush has been hot too.....paulding presents matchup problem for Texas.....A Johnson could get big man in foul trouble with homer refs.......

check last few Texas road games and Columbia is no easy place to win in especially when Mizzou really needs a win and they are playing well right now.....last good team Mizzou played here was Virginia.......Virginia a bit better than Texas IMO.......

Freeze, I'm a little confused here.....how many Texas players would you like me to name that is HOT right now? Ford? Mouton? Thomas? Boddicker? Gilbert is NOT a point guard!!! Who is going to hold Ford off the dribble? Ford is 10 times faster than any player that Mizzou has........Texas is a SEASONED road team......Mizzou needs this WIN more than UT? Give me a break here....Did you not see that OU lost to OSU? This is a prime opportunity for the Horns just as much as it is for Mizzou.....Your only on Mizzou bc your a TEXAS hater....which is understood because if you practice what you PREACH then you would be all on TEXAS...HOOK'EM

For all their meandering over the last month, they have tremendous support at home and certainly enough ability to get the job done. The game is even more important to Missouri than it is to Texas, because it's at home, and there are no gimmes left on the MU schedule, just as there aren't for Texas.

Of course, Barnes took a team to Missouri under similar circumstances two years ago and extracted a last-minute victory. Before the season, while trying to figure out if the black-and-gold wave that put MU in the Top 10 was more hype or fact (as I figured, it was hype), I thought this might be a MU blowout. I don't think that anymore. TJ, of course, is a load for anybody. Mouton and Ivey should be able to make Rush and Gilbert play defense. Thomas is bigger and stronger than Arthur Johnson. I'm hoping that the poise of rallying against OU and KU will help come crunch time Sunday... but if Rush drops 30 on 'em, coming out with a win is going to be very difficult.

All that being said, if you cut off Gilbert's open looks from the 3 (as he doesn't score well off the dribble) and hound Rush with Ivey, I like our chances..BUT wouldn't be surprised to see it go to the wire and be anyones game.

I would take Texas plus the points here. GL!

always skeptical of playing against the homer refs here as well. kmac, i dont think one good game by boddicker means he's hot. the guy has been absolutely dreadful this year and on the road he gets heckled more than any other UT player, he might be the most overrated mcdonalds all-american player i have seen in a few yrs..

like over 72 first half, UT really committed to running and pushing the ball last couple of games and rush has been shooting really well of late for mizzou, see lots of fouls too with this tempo--good luck, guys!

i am not a Texas hater......have bet on them many a time before.....i just like Home court and small points here........

yes Mizzou needs this one more.....Texas is pretty much a lock for dance and Mizzou is not....must defend on home floor and lots of tough games remain for htem......

Horn fans always get upset when you pick against their team......don't understand this.....the hype machine has always been like this though......yes Ford is good, and yes they could win and might win.....but my play is based on home court and a much more needed win for Mizzou.....if this game was in Texas and UT was laying 3, I would play UT.......but it is in Columbia and never underestimate the power of the Big 12 officials.....if Mizzou gets behind they will get every call.......this happened when OU played at OSU last week and enabled OSU to win......

it sucks but in Big 12 play......refs take over games all too often......and i would rather bet with them than against them......

wigs -- agree with what you said about Boddicker. The KU game was his best ever but he needs to play with consistency and his defense is still atrocious. Very over rated for a McD's all american!

freeze -- I certainly don't disagree with your analysis of the game but I have 2 things to dispute: Texas is NOT locked for the Dance. And where do you come up with Horn fans getting upset when picking against their team?? Now, I would agree if you would have said that there are some arrogant Horn fans but not the other.

Freeze this has NOTHING to do with you picking against the HORNS and me not liking it or not but has EVERYTHING to do about you PREACHING to me and everyone else in here about betting on teams that have NO POINT GUARD....MIZZOU HAS NONE!!!!!! GL to you and GUARDLESS MIZZOU......BTW practice what you PREACH.....

yeah i know.....point guard makes me wary of play......in fact i bought most of my bet back at 4.5 but still have more on Mizzou.......

fact is, is that Gilbert is playing better there.......I am liking the over more and more right now........you are right in saying Ford no one can guard Ford.......he will break down defense.....hopefully Texas shooters are hot....

also having no point guard on road is much bigger factor than their situation is at home........example at Baylor a lot of the defense that was being played on perimeter ball handlers would be whistled in Columbia.......this led to TO after TO.....still Mizzou shot well enough to stay in game.......

at home, pressure defense may get UT in foul trouble and if Mizzou shoots well as they have been, this could spell trouble......

hope this communicates my point.......think the OVER might be the better play now......

Regarding the importancy of the game:

I don't think this is Texas' most important game. Does a win help? Sure, but a loss doesn't hurt too bad.

The three must win games are Tech, OSU, and ISU.

We win those three and we get a first round bye in the Big12 tourney and get into the NCAA's with 19 wins.

BUT, a loss at Mizzou could potentially send this team into a tailspin that will last for the rest of the season. Hopefully the guys come out strong knowing they can beat Mizzou and run them all over the court.

Here's my idea of the potential match-ups:

TJ vs. Gilbert
Personally, I like TJ over Gilbert, though Gilbert can light it up. However he may have to use up most of his energy guarding TJ on defense.

Ivey vs. Paulding
I believe Ivey is the better defender, with Paulding being a better athlete. However Ivey scores more and is a better shooter.

Brandon vs. Rush
No question this is the best match-up of the game. Pre-season it would have been a huge advantage for Rush, but in Mouton's last 4 games he is averaging over 21 pts. per game. I don't think either player plays exceptional defense so this might be one of those "I can do you 1 better type" performance.

Erskin vs. ???
Don't know who gets starters minutes at the "4" spot. Erskin is nothing more than a situational garbage collector, though he has improved FT performaces lately.

JT vs. Johnson
Easily Thomas in this one. He has everything Johnson needs internally to become a good/great player for Mizzou. JT is 1 of three players to be averaging a double-double in conference games, look for JT to run the floor unmercifully earlier getting alot of close looks as johnson is late getting back on D.

Bench
UT-Boddicker, Williams, Klotz: The 1st 2 reserves more so than Klotz have the potential to light it up against teams that don't play good defense, for example Mizzou. Williams lit up Baylor earlier in the year, and Boddicker is coming off his best game ever as a Horn. Klotz is finding it tough as did Boddicker last year, for a Big 12 freshman post player.

UM-Stokes, Bryant, and Gage
Stokes and Bryant were 1-time starters prone to lapses defensively and offensively, so now they come off the bench. Gage sucks, Jammer proved that some 4 months ago. :)

Overall, I see UT winning this game. They went into Stillwater and beat OSU, and know they are starting to put it all together by pushing tempo with TJ, there last 2 games both over 100 pts. Kind of reminiscent of Barnes at Providence.
