i tried visiting the site from a public terminal on my college campus (one where anybody can just walk up and use it without loggin in) and after i typed in the url in the browser, i got hit with a page that said CyberPatrol on it with a big logo in the center. I guess this site is on a list of restricted sites? LOL. Does anyone know about this? My guess is the list is comprised of sites that both get a lot of hits and has questionable content (gambling, pron, etc.).

MadJack's is not being singled out, if that's what you're asking. Programs like Cyberpatrol, or companies that provide similar services look for keywords in each web addy or web site description in which their customers prefer to be blocked, such as "nude", "porn", "gambling", etc, etc. MadJack's website description probably contains "gambling", and that's probably why it has blocked you from browsing this site from your campus terminal.

I have the same issue at the office. Darn, I hate when that happens: they don't let you gamble while on the job! What's the world coming to?

Anyway, I have yet to figure a way around it. Still trying though.

There is actually a way around it, depending on the proggy. Some companies use a manager proggy to set the "keywords", the problem is getting a hold of those proggys, but I do know that there are some you can download it off of their websites for free, depending on the company and the proggy you use. I was just messing around with it last year at work, after they just installed it, and actually cracked it. The proggy was taken off of all the terminals in about a week, although I'm not sure if it was because of me, or because so few people access porn and gambling sites at work that it was not cost-efficent for my work place to subscribe to that service. Most of these proggys not only block your access to the restricted site, they report to the service company the web addy, which terminal was used, time, frequency....etc. Either way, I was glad that it was taken off.

But like I said, not all patrolling softwares have a manager proggy that you can download off their internet website.

Try typing in the url name without the www in front of it. This outsmarts our "smart filter" at my office. It works on just about all restricted gambling sites except nss.net for some reason.

MJ, your idea didn't work.

I'm actually on a PC using an analog line right now. Can't miss wagering on a day like this. It was either that or taking the day off. Hmmmm.....maybe I made my decision a little too hasty.
