Chicago Cubs -107

Listed pitchers: Maddux and Redding

Line found at Pinnacle

This sets up to be a pretty good play. We have a hot team in the Chicago Cubs who have won 7 of their last 10 games going against a Houston Astros team who is 4-6 in their last 10. The road team has won the last 4 meetings between these two and the Astros are just 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and just 1-3 in Redding's last four starts.

The pitching match up favors the Cubs. They have Maddux taking the hill and he is 2-1 in his last 3 games while pitching 20.2 innings giving up 18 hits and carries a whip of 0.97 and an era of 2.18. Redding on the other hand has struggled in his last three. He is 1-2 and has given up 20 hits in his last 16 innings with an era of 4.86 and a high whip of 1.68.

We also have an advantage from an offensive standpoint. The Cubs have been hitting and putting runs on the board at a decent pace in their last 10 games. They are averaging 5.99 runs per game against right-handers while carrying an on base percentage (OBP) of 0.342 and have hit for an average of .293. The Astros have been ice cold from the plate. In their last 10 games they are averaging just a little more than 2 runs per game against right-handers and are carrying an anemic batting average of .225.

The bullpens are pretty well even right now but if it comes down to a closing situation Dotel for the Astros will not be available. Dotel threw 33 pitches last night. Other than that both bullpens will be at full strength. I look for the hot Cubbies to get their third straight road victory.
