Cardinals -142
Listed pitchers Benson and Suppan
Line found at Pinnacle

The Cardinals are red hot. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games, 11-2 in their last 13 games and they have beaten the Pirates 6 out of their last 7 meetings.

The Cardinals behind Suppan are 9-5 when he pitches. Suppan has a whip of 1.37 and an era of 3.75. He has faced the Pirates twice already this year and has won both games. Benson has faced the Cardinals twice this year as well and was hit hard both times. On May 31st, he went 5.2 innings and gave up 11 hits and 8 runs. On May 26th, he went 6.1 innings and gave up 11 hits and 7 runs. Benson at home has a 1-2 record with a 5.76 era. He has pitched 29 innings and given up 44 hits.

There is absolutely no comparison between these two offenses. The Cardinals in their last 10 games are averaging close to 6 runs a game while the Pirates are averaging just over 4 runs per game. In their last 5 games the Cardinals are averaging over 6 runs per game against right-handers while the Pirates are averaging around 4. The Cardinals are also 26-12 on the road while the Pirates have played very poor at home going just 11-22.

The Cardinals have one of the best bullpens in baseball. Their team bullpen era is 3.34 while the Pirates bullpen era is 4.37 with a high whip of 1.50. Both teams are currently at full strength in the bullpen department.

The Cardinals have pretty well owned the Pirates in Pittsburgh and I expect that to continue tonight.
