Pirates have a pitcher coming up from double A to throw a set amount of pitches (55) as a replacement to an injured starter. Thompson has only gone about four innings in his past twotriple a starts. This guy is a prodigy or is about to get fed to the lions. Im going with feeding frenzy.

Brewers bats have been hot and its almost like giving them a headstart.

Marcum has only allowes one run in over 14 innings pitched.

Going back to my fishing spot with a max 4 UNiT play on Brewers -178.

I'm joining in on that play as soon as Pinny gets a RL -1 up. Brewers and Marcum are not the team they want to face right now with a SP going only half a game or so.

Any opinions on the state of the Pitts bullpen for this game?

Good luck! on your plays today. One heck of a streak you've been on! :toast:

55 pitches? That means Pirates pen gets lit up. Brewers will win this one in a landslide.

I see a game 1 from the other day type deal, but earlier runs!

I played the parlay instead of the rl. I like philly and yamks today but wont lay that much juice, hence the 3 teamer...

Best of luck fellas. I hope milwaukee comes through today.

I will be looking at teams fighting wc and leaders only going forward. Not risking money on teams that are out ofthe race.

I just know when I see teams getting anything from -170 or higher I see no value in taking the ML unless it's a parlay.

Instead of risking 170$ to win $100 on a -170, you could take the RL, lay $50 to win 40-45$.

Only on milwaukee and atlanta down the stretch.

I think that ml combo will be a big winner the last 36 games or so.

But i agree with your argument and line of thinking.

I don't think you can get any better value on a pennant or WS team then you can get with the Braves. They are probably the least favored team to win the WS other than maybe the AL Central team. I know I'm a bit of a biased opinion here. But this is the best team the Braves have had, top to bottom(speed/defense/hitting/pitching/bullpen) since the mid90s.

They have a few tools that people forget, but once they see them in the playoffs, they wonder...how'd we miss that?

SPEED at the top of the lineup, SPEED at the bottom of the lineup. The ability to constantly put pressure on the opponent when guys like Bourn and Constanza are on the pads. It is so underrrated until you get to the playoffs where every pitch is so mico-scoped.

BULLPEN. Everyone admires a good bullpen during the regular season, but hardly anyone understands the significance come playoff time. The Braves can trot out 3 LHP, 2 are dominate and almost unhittable(Sherill has a 3era). This will come super valuable late in close games with Milwaukee/Philly. Did I forget to mention that Kimbrel kid? LIGHTS OUT, his confidence on the mound is crazyyyyyyy. Lets not forget Beachy/Miner come playoff time.

SP/DEPTH- When you have the ability to bring guys like Heyward or Chipper off the bench to PH if they're not starting is huge in the NL for the playoffs(super huge if they make the WS, they can DH). I still don't think our SP gets enough credit. Jurrjens-Hudson-Hanson(when he returns and is healthy he's tough), and Derek Lowe(never understood how a guy can struggle in the regular season but be soooo good in the playoffs)

Thompson throws a fastball in the 88-91 mph range to go along with a good slider, a serviceable curveball and the aforementioned change(plus plus changeup). He has a great pick-off move to first base, too. Thompson's ability to keep the ball in the park (0.55 home runs per nine this season) and on the ground bodes well for his future. He has the ability to command all of his pitches, and improving his command will help him reach his ceiling as a back-end starter.

HE had a 5.14 ERA in AA with a Brewers Team Total at 5! :scared

Man, I hope this plays out like it does on paper.. :)

He's a contact pitcher. He's not gonna be striking anyone out. Which isn't good when you face a team who has some good contact hitters(Morgan, Hart, Braun, Fielder)...Betancourt has been hitting the ball very good lately.

The LHP will give 'em some troubles but like I said...the Pirates pen blows. Brewers win 7-3

That would be a great final score... 7 run lead by the fifth and a couple runs late for the pirates.

Would love it.

Single for the lead off... at least we know he's hittable.

Man, this would be a great W to have on a wednesday. I'd play the remainder of the week with a surgeon's grace just cutting out winners...
