MLB All-Star Odds ? American League has National League?s number
MLB All-Star betting should be tilted towards the American League, as they?ve won the last 11 All-Star games over the National League. This year?s event will be held on Tuesday at St. Louis? Busch Stadium, and the National League will be hoping that a hometown hero can lead them to their first All-Star win since 1996.
MLB All-Star Betting ? Tuesday, July 14, 8:00 PM ET
The American League?s hard-hitting lineup will be powered by the Yankees? Mark Teixeira and Boston?s Jason Bay, two of the leading candidates for the AL?s MVP award at the midseason mark. Tampa Bay?s Evan Longoria can also go deep, while they also have the players with the highest batting averages in baseball, Minnesota?s Joe Mauer and Seattle?s Ichiro Suzuki. New York?s Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera will be making their 10th appearances on the American League side. The top candidates for the starting-pitcher role are Kansas City?s Zack Greinke, Detroit?s Justin Verlander, Toronto?s Roy Halladay and Boston teammates Josh Beckett and Tim Wakefield, and with that kind of pitching, no one would blame you if you made the AL one of your fight card picks on Tuesday.
St. Louis? Albert Pujols will lead the way for the NL team, and betting software should definitely have him as one of the favorites for Monday?s Home Run Derby. Pujols leads the majors in homers and RBIs, while coming in fifth in batting average. He?ll be joined in the starting lineup by a pair of East duos, New York?s Carlos Beltran and David Wright, as well as Philadelphia?s Raul Ibanez and Chase Utley, although Beltran and Ibanez may miss the game due to injury. Milwaukee?s Prince Fielder, San Diego?s Adrian Gonzalez and Philadelphia?s Chase Utley are the big bats off the bench, but if the NL is going to end the opposition?s dominance, they?ll have to do it through pitching. San Francisco?s Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain are the leading pitchers, although Lincecum may have the edge as he missed last year?s game before going on to win the Cy Young award. Los Angeles? Chad Billingsley and New York?s Johan Santana are also available, and a pair of darkhorses to start are Arizona?s Dan Haren and Florida?s Josh Johnson. They?ll have their hands full, but the NL All-Stars are worth a look in your offshore sportsbook.
