No time for a big detailed write-up, but to be brief, this game has a little to do with the home umpire, but more importantaly there's a big red flag with Graves today.

Graves has been throwing a large amount of pitches the last 4 games. He's thrown a combined 411 pitches in those 4 games which for him is too many considering the fact that he was closing games a year ago. Now what might be a big indicator that he's been throwing too many for him and of a possible meldown today is his groundball to flyball ratio. Check out the numbers:

Graves 1st 8 starts this season.....he had a ground ball/flyball ratio of 1.66 (83 gb to 50 fb)

Graves last start he had a groundball/flyball ratio of 0.40 (6 gb to 15 fb)

This is cause enough to be alarmed especially when pitching at the Great American Ballpark.

To go along with the pitchcounts, he'll be pitching on only 4 days rest as well.

good call pete. amazing what happens to these teams..reds full head of steam going into this series,marlins playing bad and they sweep the week-end series. im a big-red fan and this is disapointing,but its not just this team it has ben happening alot this year.

mize......Thanks. I agree about the season thus far...this has been the craziest season in the past few as far as handicapping goes and how the games are playing out. Things seem to be settling down a bit the last week or or so....I think a lot can attest to that, including the main man Jack......almost thought your Reds were going to pull off one of their patented comebacks today.....glad they didn't though
