ST LOUIS -137
A couple notes on this one:
I?m going to ride the streak of St Louis today. They are a team that seems to go into long win streaks every season. St Louis has now won 6 games in a row and is averaging 7.75 runs per game over their last 8 games.
Matt Morris gets the start for St. Louis today. Morris has a career record of 37-18 with a 2.77 ERA at Home. This season, Morris has been pitching awesome and in his last 5 starts has allowed a total of just 7 earned runs.
Morris doesn?t have the best career stats vs Montreal, but when you look at his bad games vs them, you?ll see they were mostly at Olympic Stadium in Montreal. Morris has always had a tendency to be worse on the road anyways as his road ERA is close to a full run higher than his home ERA. He?s at Home today!
Vazquez has been pitching awesome as well this season, but like Morris he?s a little worse on the road than at Home. His ERA on the road is about a ? run higher than his career home ERA, but what?s more important is his career numbers vs St Louis which are pretty bad. Anytime a team has more than half their lineup hitting over .300 in their careers vs a hot pitcher, that situation overrides the hot pitching. Check out the career numbers of several St Louis batters against Vazquez:
Drew?.batting .308
Edmonds?.batting .429
Matheny?batting .300
Pujols??batting .571
Renteria?..batting .400
Vina???batting .400
Also an interesting note, I mentioned how Vazquez is a little worse on the road than at home, well he?s even worse when pitching at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. He is 0-3 with a 6.60 ERA when pitching there.
Good luck :thumb:
