SEATTLE -171:
There are many situational matchups in this game that favor Seattle, but that shouldn?t come as a surprise considering that Seattle is simply the better team.
The biggest factor to me in this game is how Cleveland?s starter Brian Anderson seems to match up with the Seattle lineup. Anderson is a guy that hates walking people and rarely does issue the free pass. You might think this is a good thing for him, but in Anderson?s case it has tended to hurt him many times in the past. Basically what happens, is that Anderson will ?groove? a pitch whenever he falls behind in the count. In other words, he?ll give into the hitters. So anytime Anderson faces a disciplined lineup such as the Mariners have, his determination not to walk the hitter results in not only giving up more hits than innings pitched, but many times quick runs via the home run.
Anderson has already given up 8 home runs in just 37.2 innings this season and he?s been even worse at home having given up 6 of those 8 dingers in just 18.2 innings.
Bottom line, I think Seattle gets it?s fair share of runs today. If this game would happen to come down to the late innings, which I don?t think it will, the edge goes to Seattle as well with the better bullpen. Cleveland is also not a late inning scoring team as they have been outscored in the late innings this season at an unbelievable ratio. Seattle has beaten the Indians the last 4 meetings, look for 5 straight after today.
Good luck to everyone today :thumb:
