CLEVELAND -102

I expect Cleveland to take this game with ease today with Ricardo Rodriguez on the mound. Rodriguez has struggled of late after having pitched well early in the season. Let me explain some:

If any of you follow Cleveland, you know that Rodriguez likes to pitch inside. The likes of Ramon Martinez and his brother Pedro Martinez have taught him that and that?s what he needs to do to be effective. Well what happened is, Rodriguez was actually given a warning by MLB Association to stop ?head hunting!? This completely got in his head and he shied away from pitching that way. Well what happened was what should be expected?.he struggled. He finally said screw it, and got back to what he does well and it showed against Oakland 2 starts ago, allowing just 1 run off 3 hits in 6 innings of work. In his last start vs Boston he did take the loss, but the stats are very mistleading. He gave up 6 runs in the first innings which featured 2 errors, the only bunt hit of the season for Boston, another infield hit, plus a chopper that went over the head of the first basemen. A completely fluke, ?unlucky? inning for Rodriguez who settle down over the next several innings.

Look for Rodriguez to pitch very well against this very shaky Detroit lineup. Rodriguez has one career start vs Detroit and recorded a win in that game, giving up just 5 hits in 8.1 innings allowing 2 runs. He struck out 5 while walking just 1.

Maroth will be starting for the Tigers today. Cleveland has had no problems with lefties over the last 10 games, batting .319 vs them. Cleveland has no problems whatsoever with soft tossing lefties such as Maroth. In the only start Maroth has vs Cleveland, he gave up 6 earned runs in just 5 innings last season.

Good luck to all today. :thumb:

Gecko......thanks, yeh, I know. I dont use thew "paper" exclusively. I just check it in the AM before I head out to see what the early starts are & if I am interested. ..........then go to the puter later to do the real work......Just a bad break for me. Funny, I had Rodriguez circled in myself, also, so it would have been a nice sized bet........did it after his last start & when I saw this was against Detroit. Glad all u guys cashed.
