As far as this game goes, it looks like Pineiro is pitching well this season. In two starts, he has a 2.77 ERA and in 9 career starts vs Detroit, he has pretty much dominated them going 6-2 with a 2.66 ERA and in those starts has only allowed 55 hits in 67.2 innings.
Pineiro is pitching at home in this game and that's another plus for him as his career ERA at home is 1.09 Runs lower than his career Away ERA.
Willis goes for Detroit and has had some major control problems the last couple seasons. The past 2 seasons in the Majors, he's only pitched 57.2 innings because of his control problems and in those 57.2 innings, he's walked a whopping 63 batters.
In his 2 starts this season, both vs a mediocre Kansas City team, he still walked 5 in 11 innings while giving up 16 hits in just 11 innings pitched, so that does not impress me at all. Throw in the fact that he's facing an Angels lineup which will most likely have 7 right-handed bats vs him is even another plus considering the fact that over Willis's career he is allowing a batting average of 69 pts higher to rightie hitters than lefties.
