Season: 72-62 (+640)

Today's picks:

STL -135 : Dodgers playing well lately, but everything leans in the Cardinals' favor today. Williams season ERA is 2.39 while Nomo's is 3.28. Williams career ERA vs. the Dodgers: 2.09 in 8 games; Nomo vs. the Cards: 3.04 in 10 gms. Neither team has great hitting stats against today's opposing pitcher but the Dodgers stats are noticeably worse. Throw in the Cards coming off a loss at home and think they have a good shot today.

MIL +135 : I've seen this pick in a couple of other posts, but I've got it as well. Haynes does not pitch well against the Brewers. He has a career ERA, in 5 games, of 5.40 and the hitting stats of the Brewers' batters against Haynes are some of the best I have seen in a while. Ndnfan lists some of the career averages in his post, but I think there are 10-12 hitters on the roster with lifetime batting averages over .250 vs. Haynes. Wright is not having a great year, but lifetime vs. the Reds, he has an ERA of 3.70, which is much better than his opponent. The Reds are clearly a better team, but the Brewers have a great chance of stealing one today.

Tough to find picks today with all the heavy chalk, but that's what I'm playing so far. Good luck.

Giving in to the chalk-loving bookmakers and adding a run line play for tonight:

SEA -1.5 -135 : Moyer has been on fire lately, and his team feels like he was snubbed for the All-Star game, and should be pumped up to give him an easy win today. Moyer's season ERA (3.02) is more than 2.5 runs better than Lohse (5.60), and his career ERA vs. the Twins (3.53 in 21 games) is more than 6 runs better than Lohse's ERA vs. the Mariners (9.64 in 2 games  ). Twins have a losing record on the road and I just don't see them taking 2 in a row in Seattle with Moyer on the hill. Looking for an easy win by the M's tonight.
