I've decided to start betting on these events, but know very little about the game.

I understand the same fighters can take part in K-1 and MMA events, which obviously have different rules; I've found two sites where fighters records can be consulted; my question is are there additional disciplines besides these two that fighters take part in, and where should i look for the records ?

Oh, and happy new year to all madjack members ! :mj06:

First off.....most MMA fighters stay in MMA, and most K-1 fighters stay in K-1.

As for combat sports, too many to name em all, obviously the popular ones are kickboxing, boxing and MMA.

As for MMA rules, they vary from organization to organization, here are the popular MMA orgs:

UFC (Cage)

Dream (Ring)

Strikeforce (Cage)

Sengoku (Ring)

Affliction (Ring, maybe cage later in the year)

WEC (Cage)

Adrenaline MMA (both)

Cage Rage (Cage)

DEEP (Ring)

HDNet Fights (Ring)

M-1 (Ring)

Maximum Fighting Champ (Ring)

Sportfight (Ring)

World Victory Road (Ring)

Some orgs allow elbows, some do not. Some you can kick the guy when he's down, others you can not. Some have 3 5 minute rounds, some 2 rounds (10 and 5). Some have draws, some do not.

Best site to check MMA records can be found here:

Thank you.
So it's either MMA or K-1.

As far as ring /cage fighting, i take one fighter can get out of the ring, whereas he cannot in a cage.

Is it possible to bet a win by decision or by KO like in boxing ?

EDIT: Muai thai doesn't seem to be part of K-1 ?
I see Badr Hari lost to Alexey Ignashov the "Red
Scorpion, but this isn't reported either in K-1 or MMA sites ???

Thong banned for 87 hours for that GSP comment.

Crow:

Yes....at 5dimes they will give you "props" on the big fights. Can even pick the round a fighter will win in, or even bet on a draw. Lots of options.

As for your ring/cage question. In a fight in a ring there are lots of stoppages where a guy "gets caught up" in the ropes. Obvious in a cage there is nowhere to run. Although in a cage you can "grab on" to the cage and avoid a take-down. Bottom line in a ring the fights stop way more then they do in a cage.

Also keep in mind...though K-1 and MMA may look the same, they are DRASTICALLY different.

I am not trying to avoid you K-1 questions, I will let somebody who knows more about K-1 respond to your K-1 queries:)

First bet you should make crow is Overeem to KO Badr Hari at Dynamite...

No one sees this one coming, but I got a strong feeling...

What? It already happened?

This Hari guy, he's a bit of a head case.

I actually thought he was going to get beat by Overeem who's a beast, but being new to the game i didn't pull the trigger...

Sorry for your loss; if i had lost 3 G i would have foam coming out of my mouth...( still does when i think to Hoya...) :142smilie
