MMA bettors drooling over Couture-Nogueira bout

A fight that Mixed Martial Arts bettors have been looking forward to for years is finally taking place this weekend.

The main event of UFC 102 on Saturday (10 pm ET, PPV) features former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion Randy Couture battling former PRIDE Heavyweight and UFC Interim Heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

betED.com MMA Betting Odds have Couture as a -170 favorite and Nogueira a +140 underdog.

Besides being the favorite, Couture should have the crowd at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon behind him. While Couture is from neighboring Washington, he coached at Oregon State and started Team Quest in Gresham, Oregon.

UFC 102 will mark the first time an Ultimate Fighting Championship event has been held in the Pacific Northwest.

The heavyweight clash is a battle that many in the world of MMA have been longing for ever since the two fighters were champions simultaneously for the UFC and Pride in 2001.

And it could be the last shot at a title for both.

Both lost their last fight. Couture, at age 46, is slowing down while Nogueira has suffered some severe injuries over the years that are catching up to him.

Couture is 16-9, 13-6 in the UFC, with nine wins by stoppage. Nogueira is 31-5-1, 2-1 in the UFC, with 22 wins by stoppage.

The co-headline bout at UFC 102 will feature Thiago Silva taking on Keith Jardine in a lightweight fight.

betED.com has Jardine a -160 favorite and Silva a +130 dog.

Jardine (14-5-1) was beaten by unanimous decision in his last fight by Quinton Jackson at UFC 96 in March. He?s lost four of his past eight fights.

Silva (13-1) is a Muay Thai fighter who was on a hot streak until his last fight against Lyoto Machida, who knocked him out in the first round at UFC 94.

Speaking for most MMA fans, there is something coming out of my mouth and it is not drool.

This matchup is too little too late in the making.
Nog has not looked good in UFC and Randy is a shell of his old self.

This is the weakest UFC PPV main event in the US ever and the ratings for it will probably show.

The rest of the card is pretty bad as well.

Key- I doubt it will show, cuz Randy still has his following, and Nog has his national following so I think it'll draw. There have been way worse PPV's and main events than this one..
