MMA Fans - Free Fight Tonight

Hello to all MMA fans,
Tonight, April 25th, around 8PM, there is an event in MO that a buddy of mine from high school is fighting in called the Patriot Act II. Admin, hope you dont mind me posting this link, but the fight will be shown live on www.purefight.org. It is a free site so the quality isnt the best but if you are free tonight, check it out.

Ben "Funky" Askren fights in one of the main events. Also on the card is Jeff Monson. So it is a small card but it's Askrens second MMA fight and he is a successful wrestler that brings a tough fight. Like I said if you are free around 9 or 10 tonight check it out.

Good luck Ben and hope you guys tune in. It would be nice to support him and hopefully get him some pub to get him in a larger promotion in a few more fights. Take care all

just saw this. Tried to watch, but it's just giving me the audio and stills... I guess maybe the video is just laggy?? The ring girl looked pretty hawt though!

sidenote to anybody...

what happened to Jeff Monson? Why does he have to fight in really small events like this? Did he get into trouble at one time or something? I remember seeing him in old UFC events, and he was short, but a major badass. Thanks.

On January 14, 2009, Monson was charged with First Degree Malicious Mischief, for allegedly vandalizing the Washington State Capitol by spray-painting "an anarchy symbol, a peace symbol and the words 'no poverty' and 'no war'"[6]on the large columns at the front of the building. A warrant was issued by a Thurston County Superior Court Judge [7] after pictures of Monson committing the crime were printed in ESPN magazine."

6/5........Jeff has won 7 of his last 8 fights and not all at "small shows". Had a very impressive win in Japan (Dream 8) against Sergei Kharitonov. Reason he's not in UFC pretty much comes down to the fact that he's boring as hell. And yes as Chucky stated he's gotten into some trouble outside the cage. The dude is maybe a top 25 heavyweight, maybe. But even if he wins another 5 fights in a row I doubt you'd see him in the UFC again. He's just not a top tenner and he's boring.


Coach_K.......I would have liked to watch, but it's playoff hockey time, can't miss playoff hockey. Hope your buddy won

Thanks guys, Askren won pretty easily. He is a stud wrestler. I think he is taking some time off MMA to do more wrestling camps and possible start training for London 2012, but once he fights another handful of times he should get some bigger fights. Heard on the broadcast Saturday, the UFC invited him to be on Season 9 of Ultimate Fighter but he declined because of his wreslting obligations, so I am confident the bigger names in MMA know of him but he is young still and has a shot at Olympics again so that is hard to pass up. Plus the money is pretty good for wrestling camps. Just ask Cael Sanderson. Anyway the video sucked but I believe the fights are posted at purefight.org and should be better quality. Monson I guess dropped out of the show for some reason so was kind of disappointed but there was another great fight on the card, Whisper goodman vs Lopes. Check it out if you have time.

Monson is one of the biggest dumbasses and a-holes in MMA.
Like Chucky said he got drunk and asked the ESPN reporter if he wanted to see something funny so he took him down to the Capitol building and did that.
He was long from UFC before that though.
Also had some charges of roughing up his wife which were dropped.

Dana White deemed him as boring and dumped his contract.
The Snowman is an ass.
I hope he doesn't read this and come hunt me down. I have seen him rip an already torn ESPN THE MAGAZINE in half. :mj07:

Also he has fought 3 times in the last 30 days so that might be why he dropped out.
