Hello MMA Fans,
Since the Evangelista/Aiana fight it seems the discussion is growing whether MMA should install Instant replay and I was curious what you guys thought.

My suggestion would be Yes...However, only for certain circumstances. The Evangelista/Aiana fight would be a perfect time to use it; Aiana was unable to continue after Evangelista supposedly kneed him in the head while he remained down. The replay shots clearly show Aiana's arm in between his head and the knee. It was ruled a DQ and the fight was awarded to Aiana. In a situation like this the ref would have ample time to review the strike sequence and it would not affect any time constraints because the fighter couldnt continue.

I think they should institue it for certain situations that will not impede the flow of the fight. For example if a person continuously complains about being hit in the crotch they could review that either between rounds or if ruled illegal strike the fighter has five minutes anyway so they could review it. Another fight that comes to mind is Anthony Johnson vs Kevin Burns when Burns clearly poked him in the eye and Johnson couldnt continue but he was given a loss. It is an accidental and unfortunate foul but dont charge a guy wth a loss, rule it a NC or draw.

Things happen so fast in a fight, there should be no shame in looking at a replay in particular situations and coming up with the correct, informed decision. I mean in the end isn't it about how many W & L's a person has? It undoubtably would reduce the risk of mistakes. I would not go as far as anything can be reviewed or throwing a red flag in the ring to challenge but certain situations could be reviewed with no harm only benefits.

Curious what you guys think, as there obviously is two sides to this topic.

Instant replay may have its place, but more importantly, do what "Sengoku" and "DREAM" do, allow the knees.

That solves that problem.

They could allow knees but I agree they are way to dangerous and if MMA is to be sanctioned in all states they need to keep the rules the way they are.
