Colorado St -4

Col St started the season hot..quite unexpected due to the loss of most of their senior starters from last year..but quickly faded and have been an average team at best since then. But they are in a good spot tonight. First, the altitude factor. Can't be underestimated, especially with a team like Michigan coming to Ft. Collins...they haven't experienced anything such as this...and Col St's home losses have mainly been to conference opponents and teams familiar with the altitude (Colorado). They have also shown the ability to beat solid teams at home in this type of situation...smoked Southern Illinois by 18pts earlier in the season. Rams get 5 days off until their next game after this, and I'm sure they and the fans will be pumped for tonight...high profile name like Michigan coming to town..important game for the Rams. Meanwhile, Michigan has a game at Purdue on Wednesday, have a feeling they won't be 'up' for this one...considering the travel factors and the conference game on deck. Wolvs are also 1-7 on the road this season..lone win at Penn St..have lost to the likes of San Francisco and Western Michigan.

I got burned on SIU, remember it well. Wrong team favored. Michigan has no reason to be up for this game, probably wondering why they're even playing it at all....lots of reasons not to play well. Great call.

Interesting Info..........

The Wolverines moved Saturday's home tip-off with Penn State to an 11 a.m. local time start. After a 65-58 comeback victory over the Big Ten's last-place team, Michigan left for Denver, arriving in Fort Collins almost 48 hours before tonight's 7 o'clock nonleague tip-off at Colorado State.

First-year coach Tommy Amaker wanted an extra day to acclimate to the altitude. He told reporters after the Penn State game: "This is going to be very challenging."

Amaker knows firsthand about altitude. The former Duke All-American was an assistant coach at his alma mater when the Blue Devils lost to UNLV 103-73 in the 1990 NCAA title game in Denver.
