lucky2U,
Thanks for the compliments they really mean alot---
My first bit of advice is if you are bad at playing the totals, then don't. If you are new at handicapping the NBA, it doesn't show your record is above .500, and it looks as though your mathematical system may have something to it early in the season. My approach to handicapping the NBA involves many factors, but I think one of the most important factors is watching the teams play, sounds simple, but it works. Usually the person that can handicap a team the best is a fan of that team because he watches them day in and day out, and knows everything you need to know about that paticualr team. The problem usually comes in when they let their heart get in the way, and they always bet for the home team, but that is another discussion in itself.
Also after a win or loss it is important you look into why you won or loss. Maybe you did not realize a team could rebound well, or you lost a game because of an abundant amount of turnovers. You want to look into the wins and losses to learn from the mistakes, and take advantage of the wins, and when you could apply them again in the future.
As for tonight's games, they are not that easy.I just started looking over these selections, and they are not my final plays.
Warriors @ Memphis
Looks like a good spot for the grizz to get in the win column, but the injuries are a telling sign for this club, especially Dickerson. I would keep a close eye here to see who plays. The warriors are actually playing solid ball of late, and are beating bad teams, as evident by the pounding they gave the Wiz, and the Knicks. They are getting great guard play by Hughes, and they are also rebounding the ball well.
Orlando @ Utah
Initial instinct says to back the Jazz at home after getting beat up by the raptors in front of the home crowd. However I can't get a grip on this jazz team and how they are affected by the new defensive changes. The new changes allow teams to better defend the pick and roll which is the jazz strong point, but that depends on how the magic will play against them tonight. I also think the magic have the manpower to keep up with the jazz especially from a scoring stand point.
Still crunching numbers and i will be back. lucky2U I hope this helped in some way, and please fell free to ask questions at any time.
Thanks,
JT
