The betting action has been huge on this one, with Favre getting the clear nod from the sports betting public....

There?s one game left to close out Week 4 and what a matchup it is. This week?s Monday nighter between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings will easily be the highest rated NFL game of the season thus far, and likely still be number one when the 2009 schedule closes.

This Monday nighter will also be the most wagered on game of the young season, as betting started early last week and has continued right through. Red, the head linesmaker for online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com reported steady action all week, ?sports fans and bettors have been looking forward to this game since the day Favre signed with the Vikings, and that?s been reflected in the betting action we?ve seen this week. There?s definitely been more early volume bet on this matchup than the usual Monday nighter. After the Sunday afternoon games ended yesterday, we saw a real spike on this one, as bettors turned their attention to the Sunday nighter and this big Monday nighter.?

The line opened with the Vikes favored by a field goal across the board, but almost immediately the books started to raise the juice on the favorite, as the sports betting public sided squarely with Brett Favre and the Vikings. By Saturday, as college football bettors got their bets in and them turned their attention to the NFL card, the line officially moved to -4 across the board. It has now moved up to 4.5 on Monday as bettors pick up the pace..

Favre and his Vikings have fought to a 3-0 record straight up, covering the pointspread in two of those games. The one game in which they didn?t cash a ticket for their backers was last weekend, when Favre pulled off a mini-miracle in the dying seconds against the San Francisco 49ers. Favre at his best.

Green Bay had their wakeup call in Week 2 when the Cincinnati Bengals rolled into Lambeau Field and shocked them (and a lot of bettors) by winning straight-up as a double-digit underdog. The Packers responded with a 36-17 win last week in St. Louis, but anyone that has seen the Rams this year might wonder how a team averaging 2.33 points per game managed to roll up 16 points on what was supposed to be a good Packer defense.

Minnesota is ranked fourth in scoring at 29.3 points per game through the first three weeks and although the quarterbacks are getting the press for this big contest, the outcome could be determined by the league's leading rusher, Adrian Peterson. The explosive back is averaging 6.1 yards per carry and already has four rushing touchdowns, numbers which could get better vs. Green Bay's 23rd ranked rush defense.

Favre`s offensive line has allowed its prize QB to be sacked nine times through the first three games and as much as the Packers? front seven liked yoking it up with Brett in his Wisconsin days, they will be charging hard on Monday night. Minnesota needs its ground game to be stellar, as usual. And if it is, the 75% of the betting public already on the Vikes will be smiling when the final gun goes off.

The head coaches will be a side note in terms of media coverage, but it is worth noting that Packers' Mike McCarthy has a 5-1 straight up and ATS edge in his personal series against both the Vikings and head coach Brad Childress.

Minnesota is 3-0 SU for the first time since 2003. Green Bay is 2-1 SU and needs a win to keep pace in the division. A Packer win will create a three-way tie atop the NFC North.

NFL Picks: I really think the Packer offense is going to struggle vs. the Viking defense, as they have yet to start clicking this season. On the other side, the Viking offense creates problems for the Packer D. I?m taking the Vikings -4.5.
