Cubs v. Mets

Both teams have new managers so there isn't the trend of winning the first game for new manager in effect. Kerry Wood has dominated the Mets in recent years.
WOOD is 2-1 when starting against NY METS with an ERA of 1.80 and a WHIP of 1.143

GLAVINE is 2-4 when starting against CHICAGO CUBS with an ERA of 4.13 and a WHIP of 1.253.Glavine has struggled against the cubs albeit with the braves

The cubs are coming in hot with 2 preseason wins at the Dbacks and should stay hot. Plus, Sammy is dying to get 500 off his back ASAP. He really wants to win

Recommended Play: Cubs +104

Philadelphia at Florida

Jim Thome wants to start off with his new club with a bang.
15 of 19 games in this series have gone OVER THE TOTAL over the last 3 seasons in games played at Florida.

MILLWOOD is 4-6 when starting against FLORIDA with an ERA of 5.56 and a WHIP of 1.576 over the last 3 years.

Think Florida can get to him, and Philly should be able to put up some runs against Beckett.

Recommended Play OVER 8(-115)

Pittsburgh vs. Cincinatti
I've followed Cinicinatti closely during the preseason and their offense does NOTHING for me. They cannot manufacture runs and are going to be relying heavily on Griffey, Casey, and others to hit the long ball. They aren't good enough to string a bunch of base hits together and they don't have much speed. While Pittsburgh is better, I 'm not entirely sold on their offense. Aramis Ramirez will have a big year, but they need help scoring as well. And they need Kendall to do ANYTHING.
BENSON is 2-2 when starting against CINCINNATI with an ERA of 2.75 and a WHIP of 1.306.
Cincinatti shouldn't put up a lot of runs, and Pittsburgh wont be hammering em out either.

Recommeded Play UNDER 9

Minnesota vs. Detroit
I really like this Mike Maroth kid going for Detroit today. He showed glimpses of brilliance last year. He pitches in a pitcher friendly ballpark, and should be their ace for years to come. I know that Radke is 11-1 with a 3.89 era over the last 3 years against detroit, but hell aren't most pitchers. This incorporates the playing for new manager theory. Garner has his hands full, but I think that his players won't quit on him.

Recommended Play Detroit +151

Boston vs. Tampa Bay
Boston OWNS tampa bay, specifically Pedro Martinez. Just like last year though, he had a great spring and in the opener gave up like 8 runs or something, but managed not to get the loss. Strictly a play on the theory that what a statement to the tampa area Pinella would make then to enter his new regime with a victory over Pedro. NOT SO FAST THOUGH. We are realist and while dreams sometimes come true, we will take the run and a half just in case Disneyworld is sold out that day.

Recommended Play Tampa Bay +1.5 runs +140

Toronto vs. Yankees
Everyone and their mother (including me) think the Yankees are going to be great again this year. No matter how much I hate them (dodger fan) I have to acknowledge they are good. That Hideki Matsuia;sdfj is going to be great. BUT, Halladay is the ACE of the Blue Jays, and has pitched pretty good against the Yankees.
HALLADAY is 3-1 when starting against NY YANKEES with an ERA of 3.61 and a WHIP of 1.412
Toronto is 9-10 at home against the Yanks in the last 19 and well take them as home dogs here as well.

Recommended Play Toronto +105

It really is great to have Stone back.

Went against the Cubbies today. Don't like their lineup and I am not conviced that Wood is all that. Looks like I'll be wrong today which is OK-huge Cubs fan.

Also took the Reds and Chi-Sox.

Good Luck!

I'm not one to bitch when I have a losing side, and I'm not here to do that now. I had the under in the Pittsburgh game, and it was definitely the wrong side regardless. But I did learn something from the game which will help cap games later on in the season. Home Plate Umpire Randy Marsh has the smallest strike zone of any of the games I've watched so far. Also the smallest that I remember seeing in a while. Like I said, I had the wrong side probably regardless of this, but I will look forward to playing overs in the right spot with him behind the plate.

Also, I know this is only game 1 of a long season, but good luck Reds fans watching this disgrace of a team try to win 72 games this year.
