just wanted to pass this along to any of you who play exhibition baseball. pitt paper says todays starters are lowe for pit and rogers for tex. but dallasmorning news ranger beat writer reports that rookie colby lewis is to start today in pit. just wanted to point out the inconsistent info ahead of time to you guys--

from ranger web site:
Monday's probables:
Colby Lewis, Kenny Rogers, Rangers vs. Sean Lowe or Josh Fogg, Pirates at Bradenton (1:05 ET). perhaps both lewis and rogers will each get a few innings----

Tuesday's probables:
Dave Burba, Rangers vs. Paul Wilson, Devil Rays at Charlotte County Stadium (1:05 ET).

rangers may not be travelling all their strong stars in the next week or so, beware if backing them:

Juan Gonzalez stayed in Port Charlotte, Fla., for the second consecutive day. It was not for rest and relaxation and car washing.

Gonzalez has been unhappy with the lack of rhythm in his swing. So has hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo. Their response was to get Gonzalez an extended amount of at-bats against minor-league pitchers in a simulated game. Jaramillo believes the number of at-bats offsets the lower quality of the pitchers.

"He made some improvement," Jaramillo said after Gonzalez had 14 at-bats against minor-league pitchers on Sunday. "He's getting there, but he has work to do."

Gonzalez is hitting only .130 for 23 at-bats in exhibition play.

Some other front-liners could try the technique. Shortstop Alex Rodriguez and catcher Ivan Rodriguez have both expressed interest in a full day of minor league at-bats.
