Warriors -4

Tonight is a clash of two teams going in two different directions. The Warriors are slightly overachieving this season, while the Bobcats are underachieving, even for their standards. The Bobcats have the league's worst difference between offensive and defensive efficiency ratings in their last 5 games (-12.5 ppg).

In the calendar year 2012, Bobcats are 0-11 SU (-11.5 ppg) when they were out-rebounded by 15 or more in their previous game (Bobcats 30 rebounds, Spurs 45). Duncan only contributed two of these rebounds, showing how much the Cats were outhustled. In the Bobcats *defense*, they did allow the Spurs to shoot 55.6% from the field, while allowing 55.9% from 3 point land, so there were not too many rebounds up for grabs... but maybe that makes getting out-rebounded by 15 even worse. In the game before, they allowed Milwaukee to grab 59 boards, which is 9 above their season average. Obviously, they are not putting forth much effort, and the Warriors are the fifth best rebounding team in the league. In this calendar year, when the Bobcats are out-rebounded by at least 5, they are 4-45 SU (-16.9 ppg).

Dunlap seems lost right now as a coach. He tried replacing his two bigs in the last game and that completely backfired on him. They have no consistency from the frontcourt, and their backcourt doesn't play very good defense. They tried to "pack the paint" against the Spurs, and that didn't work out very well for them. Milwaukee torched them with their backcourt in the game before, and the Warriors have a great backcourt.

What happens to losing teams when they are not playing well together? Individuals start taking bad shots trying to pad their own stats and teamwork gets the back seat. This game is being touted as a showdown between Curry and Walker. Curry is playing in front of his home town and he is hitting it at a great point, as he has been hot in his last few games. I see Kemba Walker putting up a lot of shots tonight trying to out duel Curry, and I don?t think that favors the Bobcats.

Finally, a couple more stats. The total has been hovering around 203, which puts the Warriors TT around 103. After allowing a team to shoot over 50% from the field in their previous game, the Bobcats are 15-0 OU (+16.3 ppg) as a home dog. If the total goes over, one would think that the Warriors would be scoring at least 100. The Bobcats are 1-19 (-18.4 ppg) in their last 20 when allowing more than 100 points).

It seems to me that there is a major disconnect between the very young players on the team with one another, and also with their greatly inexperienced head coach. I am betting on way of the Warrior tonight...

Warriors 108-96

Good luck...

Started the year 3-0, have now lost the last two. Best player hurt for the last three. They are SO much better than last year, and a lot of good players and one great player coming up through the system. Considering what he started with last year, it is a complete turnaround (for the good) already.

Hope all is well in my favorite state! Take care.
