Please post any money management systems that seem to work for you

You have to agree that this is the key to building a bankroll

One that I have used is the progressive unit system-
when you win- bet one unit lower
when you lose- bet one unit higher

The problem here is what if you are playing more than one game at a time. . . .

The other BIG problem is sticking to any system and not loading up on "sure things" that lose and drain you

Here's one

Here's one

AAA Sports Money Management

We hope this copies well.......

MONEY MANAGEMENT

Money management is just as important as picking
winners............In fact, without both you are
destined to fail. There are a lot of good handicappers out
there. You might even consider yourself
to be one. You might fall in the catagory of a number of
bettors who can pick games with
consistancy but also lose with just as much
consistancy......The single biggest reason why
sportsbettors fail is because of the lack of proper money
management. Just like a good business
plan you must have a plan for betting on sporting
events.............We would like to share ours with
you.

THE PLAN
All plans must start with a Bankroll, defined as the amount of
money that you have set aside to
risk on sports wagering...........Your bankroll does not have
to be the amount of money that you
have on hand, just the amount that you can comfortably
lose without affecting your life in a great
way.......For the sake of this conversation we are going to
use $5000...............Next we will select
a Unit Wager............This is going to cause some alarm in
many of you, but we use 2% of the
bankroll as a unit wager....$5000 X .02 =
$100...................$100 would be a 1 unit
Play...........Wagering on sports is very similar to a stock on
Wall Street. Your bankroll is going to
go up and down, so we must be able to weather the storms
and a 2% wager allows us to do this.
The final step is find a safe way to safely increase you
wagers as your bankroll increases.

INCREASING WAGERS
As your bankroll increases, there is a need to increase the
amounts of each unit wager. We use
20% increments or 10 units.....10 X .02 = 20%. Simply put
using the $5000 starting figure, one
would increase his unit play to $120 after he won 10 units.
His bankroll would be $6000.
Therefore $6000 X .02 = $120. Your wagers would then stay
at $120 until you hit the next level
or dipped back down to the $5000 mark. A dip down would
result in a $100 bet, and an
increase to the next level, ($120 X 10 units = $1200 + 6000
= $7200) would result in a $150
bet,($7200 X .02 = $144 or $150). It is important to note
that we always round up to the nearest
$10. Your bet size is increasing but your overall risk remains
the same.....Let's put this to practice
with what we have accomplished this year.

RESULTS BASED ON +140 UNITS
By increasing your bet size at predetermined levels without
increasing your risk you can safely
build a nice nestegg. Let's take a look at the results of a
person who started with $5000, bet our
Consensus and Personal Plays, and used this system. They
are quite impressive and might shock
some of you.

UNITS...............UNIT BET...............BANKROLL
0.........................$100..........
..............$5000
+10.....................$120............
............$6000
+20.....................$150............
............$7200
+30.....................$180............
............$8700
+40.....................$210............
............$10500
+50.....................$260............
............$12600
+60.....................$310............
............$15100
+70.....................$370............
............$18200
+80.....................$440............
............$21900
+90.....................$530............
............$26300
+100...................$640.............
............$31600
+110...................$720.............
............$38000
+120...................$900.............
............$45000
+130...................$1080............
............$54000
+140...................$1300............
............$64800

At +130 for the year you are still betting just 2% of your
total bankroll. Your risk is the same as
you started. You are simply taking advantage of an
increasing bankroll. The key is the
predetermined levels of increase.

CONCLUSIONS
We have been using this money management system for just
over 5 years and it works. You must
be patient in the beginning and you must be ready for some
rough rides along the way. Of course
at some point you will reach a level on your unit bet that
you feel comfortable with and you should
stop increasing your wagers and start dragging money from
your account. That, of course, is when
the fun begins. This only works when you are getting sound
advice on your wagers and that is
where we hope we come in. We work very hard to give you
consistant winners, but whether you
are handicapping your own games, or listening to what we
play on a daily basis, we sincerely wish
you the best of luck. We look forward to your questions and
comments.

here is how i play.......bet 20 bucks a game......if I get above 600 for the week, i cash out back to 400......if I really like game, then i will bet 30 and maybe 40 bucks........i only play big (for me) on games that i have a good feel for and that are not public plays

if i do not have mcuh time to research game and just want a little action, i put down 5 bucks on it.....

also i have been making money on antipublic games.....been putting down 10 bucks a game if i get favorable line that has moved considerably with lots of public money.....absolutely no handicapping involved with these and i will just throw 10 bucks on it........

Let's keep this thread alive

Maybe you folks out there that are picking winners at a
60% to 70% clip don't need to think about money management

The rest of us mere mortals need to stick to a
system that keeps our heads above water

My bankroll was doing fair to midland the past couple of weeks when I was sticking to the following system:
lose - next bet 1 unit higher
win - next bet 1 unit lower

I did suffer a couple of Knockout punches when I loaded up on what I thought were sure things

And as we all know:
"The only sure thing is there is no sure thing!"

Please post your thoughts. . . .

Doc I have always disagreed on increasing wagers when winning and dropping amount when losing. It would be great in theory if you knew when winning streak was ending and visa versa. However it could often work against you.How many time is winning streak followed by a losing one which would hammer this system. I have seen all kinds of systems but know of only one the "guarantees" you to come out on top given 10cent lines and you hitting 53% and that is betting flat amount.I've been waiting 40+ years for someone to prove otherwise. Any takers?

dtb,

I think your answer lies in how much you trust your handicapping.

I've always felt the way to win was progressive betting.

Take a basic unit and "let-it-ride."

6-7-8-9-10 times in a row.

6 in a row is probably realistic.

BUT, this requires patience and discipline.

Two of the more loftier virtues of sportswagering.

6 in a row (allowing for juice +/- a few dollars)

1. 50 = 50
2. 50 = 100
3. 90 = 190
4. 175 = 365
5. 330 = 695
6. 630 = 1325

When you reach 6 in a row, you now have several new options.

But 6 in a row is key.

*note

A true, let-it-ride, 6 in a row gamble would result in more than double the amount of profit.

1. 50 =100
2. 100 = 200
3. 200 = 400
4. 400 = 800
5. 800 = 1600
6. 1600 = 3200

Dogs that bark,

Not sure if you understood my system-
which I think can be improved upon

The system that I brought to the table is:

You Win - Your Next wager is Decreased by one unit

You Lose - Your Next wager is Increased by one unit

This way, you have a chance to beat the vig and get back the money you lost

Buddy,

Not sure if I understand your system

Are you increasing wagers until you lose?
In other words, you start with a certain unit, say 50. You increase your wager, as per your chart, until you lose, at which time you drop back down to your unit of 50.

Is this working for you?

I like to increase when winning and go back to origonal bet after a loss. Tryng to catch a streak of winners. But I am looking for a good progression. Right now I am leaning towards betting two units on first bet. If a win next bet one unit, then two, three, etc. After a loss go back to two unit bet.

Yes, that is the system.

Is it working for me?

No, because I do not have the patience or discipline for this system.

I trust my handicapping, but I wager on FAR too many games and wager FAR too many parlays and teasers.

It's shameful.

Someone who has been doing this as long as I have should know better.

I'm hoping to give this system a try come next college football season.

There are several approaches to this system.

For example: You could bet halves, which would allow you to see a faster result.

Or you could wager according to when you're handicapping reveals a team in a particular role:

Home Favorite
Road Favorite
Home Dog
Road Dog

i.e., Home Favorites would be one "let-it-ride" wager, Road Favorites another, Home Dogs another, etc.

Totals could be another approach.

Overs could be one strategy, unders another.

I'm sure you get the idea.
