i've followed the big sky conference for a few years now and montana state caught my eye last year. they hired alum danny sprinkle as head coach and instantly became a conference contender. they posted a winning season in sprinkle's first season, grabbed road wins at weber state and idaho state (rarities for the grizzlies), and won three games in greensboro to claim the home team's tourney title, including an impressive win over the host team in the championship game. all this earned him a finalist spot for the joe b hall award for the best first year bb coach in div I. last week they opened their season with a dd win @ unlv as a 13 pt dog.

today the grizzlies (love the nickname) travel to stockton to take on pacific. the tigers are a methodical team that currently stands 1-1, winning 66-60 at home over uc-riverside and losing 70-66 to nevada in reno. coach sprinkle is a defensive maven, last year taking montana state from a 338th ncaa ranking in defense to 111th in one season. notably, they were 16-4 s/u last year in games where they held their opponent under 70 points.

that's my case for the griz. bought the hook to +7, half a unit on the m/l @ +240.

Don't you dare show up at Bozeman and call them the Griz........:mj07: GL! Sprinkle has them playing much faster this year as he has different clientele.

allow me to eat humble pie. as i'm sure every montanan knows montana state is the bobcats and u of montana is the grizzlies. an embarrassing senior brain transposition, thanks for the correction spalding.

as for pace of play, i am aware that sprinkles has more depth this year so he can push the pace more, i.e. the unlv game. but pacific is not exactly a scoring juggernaut, and i think state is capable of clamping down on them.

i'm a little concerned about the line drop, don't like riding a public dog.

thanks for the writeup loop

looks like 7 players with at least 7 points in the unlv game for montana state and:

38.5 47.5 28.2

pacific fg/ft/3pt %'s respectively

not very pretty, especially that ft number
