What a joke. We watched this movie last night, and it was a serious waste of time. It's terrible. What a joke the Oscars are now and imo have always been. The voters are saying Moonlight was the best film of the whole year? :mj07:

Think of it this way. The Oscars go to who the 'academy' votes for. So Hollywood industry people think it's the best movie. There are other award shows. Peoples choice etc that represent a more balanced representation of America as a whole.
Their picks are never going to please everyone.

I checked out when they gave that movie 'Crash' best picture. That was where my tastes and theirs irreversibly went separate ways. I still make note of the nominees figuring they are probably a decent grouping of movies to put on my queue.

Maybe that is exactly what you were saying.

I agree about the 'Crash' theory. Academy seemed to take their own path from then on. My favorite this year was 'Nocturnal Animals', but I only saw a few.

I viewed the movie knowing nothing about it. Up until the two boys kissed, I had no clue there was a gay theme, and really, that doesn't by itself make the movie a failure for me. The movie just really had no point. There was no resolution. It was not good.

That's how I felt about Manchester By The Sea and everyone in Hollywood loved that movie too:shrug:

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Go see "Hacksaw Ridge"..... raw brutal hand to hand fighting in the final days of WW2.
Okinawa, the final stepping stone to Japan saw un-imaginable brutality.

Definitely not for the faint of heart.
It is the story of the only WW2 conscientious objector to win the medal of honor.

This true story will move you.

No Hollywood Gay agenda here, just the harsh reality of war.

Mel Gibson tackled the story magnificently, Hollywood has ostracized him, but he delivers....again.

The best review I saw on it said todays "Push Button Military" should be made to sit down and watch it.

I don't know......it felt like a made for TV movie. I've seen worse imagery in a Tarantino movie. I gave this movie a 6 out of 10.
