this is his response to my question about danny weighing in at 288...
Hi ---.
Danny doesn't look in great shape judging by the pics on the BBC website... To frightend to show his stomach. However, I do have some doubts if he is that fat. In their first scheduled meeting (fight was called off on the morning of the fight, but after the weigh in). Frank Maloney, Skelton's then manager, has publically claimed that he saw weights in Danny's socks and also thinks they were in his pockets. This is an illegal... so Danny hasn't admitted it, but hasn't denied it either.
There are strong rumours that he's pulled the same stunt again.
As you all know, I think Danny has as much ability as any of the heavyweights around - just seen another "prospect" in action, Chazz Witherspoon (another you can scratch off the saviour list IMO). However, he is a lazy trainer (understatement) and its testomany to his hunger for the sport (and for the pies) that in his biggest fight (yes, I would say it was) that he later admitted to hardly contacting his regular trainer and not doing the work (this was for Harrison). It does greatly concern my when he claims he is using oxygen tents etc to train - seems like he is prepared to use anything but have the blood, sweat and tears of the ring. I'm tired of saying that Danny might learn from his mistakes, cause he won't. But all I am saying is that don't put your eggs on the Skelton basket based on the waying(weighing) as all might not be clear cut there.
Normally, I would do the same - Danny at above 17 stone on world terms is crap (at 17-19 stone he is still better than Skelton and Harrison). He could be alot a fair amount less than his actual weigh in weight. No, you can see he is not in peak shape (to say the least) but he easily have misguided us a stone and a half through the weights in his socks/pockets. Unfortunately, no pic of his gut.
But definately, I'm swaying more to Skelton than I was before. Before, I was ultra confident of a Williams win. I failed to see the controvesy last time (I had it Williams by 4) and Skelton was lucky not to get DQ, and even luckier not to get points deducted for foul play. ....
and there you have it.....
the weights in his socks thing is wild.....
fricking crazy limeys.... :142smilie .
