Went to the movies on the weekend and had enough free time to see two movies - kinda like my own personal "2 for 1 deal" and with the movie prices these days, I don't feel guilty at all about paying 1 price and seeing 2 movies :)

That being said, let me tell you that it was night and day between the two movies I saw - Vanilla Sky and Ocean's Eleven. Enough with the suspense, Vanilla Sky SUCKED and Ocean's Eleven was AWESOME. Please don't waste your time with Vanilla Sky as the story makes no sense and if you think you are going to see a suspense plot with Cameron Diaz trying to break up Cruise and Cruz's relationship, you couldn't be farther from the truth. Basically 1 out of 10 stars and that's because you get to see Cruz's breasts (and you do see the other Cruise's as well - HA HA)

As for Ocean's Eleven, very well done and the director made sure to not lose the audience when the members of the team were robbing the casino. The whole movie moved at a quick pace and you hardly notice the 2 hours go by. Basically, 9 or 10 out 10 stars.

I hope I saved someone 10 bucks (or more) who was planning on seeing Vanilla Sky and maybe convinced someone to go see Ocean's Eleven.

Cheers.

On the course!
I should have posted up on the Vanilla Ice movie.

I saw it last week, and it was a joke! and it was a "first date" movie for me! I am lucky it was her choice for a movie, or she might not have taken a second date!

These back and forth movies, between dream and reality, really suck.....and I am not stupid. Most of them I can follow. This one......not even a chance! Even if you could follow it, it still would have sucked. It was just a bad movie.

Reviewers must have been paid off to give this any "thumbs up"!

I agree with you.....save your cash.

Saw both movies and I agree with your viewpoints. Last night I saw Lord of the Rings, what a great movie. Can't wait for part 2 and 3 to come out. Go see it!!!!

Bluegrass!
When was the last time Tom Cruise was IN a good movie? Risky Biz, TopGun, and Jerry Mcquire are the only three good movies out of hundreds that he's been involved with. He has had some REALLY big flops last few times.... That movie he did with his ex-wife last year was truly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. So bad, I don't even remember the name of it!

I'd say the only time he really 'acted' was in "Born on the 4th of July". That was his best movie in my opinion.

You guys are forgetting Rain Man. Thought he was good in that. He isn't good enough to warrant the money he makes (this takes consideration that anyone is worth it).

Cruise was at his best in "Born on the Fourth of July."

His work in "Magnolia" was outstanding. He should have won Supporting Actor for that role. The scene where the TV reporter confronts him with the truth of his past in an interview is one of th best five minutes on film in recent memory.

I also thought Cruise was th perfect choice for the lead role in "The Firm."

His role in "A Few Good Men" was also good.

I agree that Cruise has made som bad films (Mission Impossible was and MI2 were two of he worst movies I've ever seen).

I also thought Oceans 11 was TERRIBLY disappointing. Dull. Lifeless. Clooney and Pitt carry the movie with charm, but the rest of the cast went through the motions. Exception were Elliot Gould who was outstanding, and Carl Reiner, who was also good.

Going to see Vanilla Sky today. Not sure of what to expect.

Forgot about 4th of July. That was indeed his best work!! Hoffman made Rainman although Crew's performance was right on....

Neemer, I agree that Hoffman made Rain Man the great movie it is. However, contrary to popular belief, the main plot of the movie revolves around Cruise's character. It is a story of his coming of age with Hoffman's "Rain Man" being the catalyst. I thought that Cruise pulled it off very well. I also liked him in Born on the 4th but made the mistake of watching it on regular tv. After reading the rave reviews in here, I will have to watch it again uncut and commercial free.

Tom Cruises best movie was "Legend" with Mia Sara and that big devil guy. That is the first movie I seen him act in.

Mel Gibson's best movie was also the first one I ever seen him act in which was Mad Max, the very first one.

Nothing like your first time, I mean first movie of these guys.

Just like Harrison Ford, best movie I seen him in was all the way back when he was Han Solo in Star Wars. (oh, I almost forgot, another great Harrison Ford movie was Blade Runner, I'd say his best that he starred in, even better than the Indian Jones flicks).

I thought Tom Cruise's best performance was in "Interview with the Vampire." As an Anne Rice fan, it scared the hell out of me, like it did with Ms. Rice, that Cruise would "Hollywood-ize" the role. But he was excellent.

BTW- TIME TO MAKE $$$ is right, Lord of the Rings is awesome, saw it yesterday. It is the fastest three hour movie you'll ever see.

I read the entire Ann Rice vampire series. The movie doesn't come close to doing the books' justice. Fantastic reading (except the last book, Memnoch), if you're open minded about that kind of stuff.
