actually no info on number of screens just playing these small.

Mr. Deeds. over $28 million -190

Hey Arnold under $14 million -115

by the way saw Windtalkers would give it 2-10. a terrible movie. battle scenes were taken from a comic book. the Japaneese soldiers in the battle scenes carry their guns well they just dont shoot them. bad terrible movie. garbage. also would not a whole brigade (near the end of the movie) carry at least one dam radio with them.

Training Day great movie 9-10

Memento 10-10. great puzzle movie

Shortcuts- 1993 by Robert Altman this movie is 3 hours of pain, it sucks. many people find this film uplifting, about peoples lives in LA for one day. okay one murder, one death by accident and one sucide, those maybe the uplifting parts.

Jack Lemon was great when is he not.

both won, Mr. Deeds went over at an expected $37.8 million,
and Hey Arnold went under making only $6 million.

maybe paramount will make a movie called "how to lose millions on cartoons".

one correction Windtalkers gets a zero out of ten, based on the battle scences.

Memento is a great puzzle movie, my main question is who was on the phone throughout the movie, believe it was Teddy. A another DVD is coming out on it this summer with tons of extras.

the dartboard worked this time.

some good Cdn. films

Erotica
Sweet Hereafter
32 short films about Glen Gould.

hope to see the inuit film the long runner.

most profitable Cdn. movie Porkys

MIB II under $80 million -170

this is a smaller play than the first two, anyways believe it opens Wednesday, so hope this lowers the overall number for Friday-Sunday.

main worry is hopefully Mr. Deeds, and Minority Report both hold up well, especially since there is not much new compeitition for the movie, Like Mike, and Puff Girls....bad.......

movie has had mixed reviews...$95$105 million to make and a large promotional budget. still will go with the under.

60 sec assassin the movie bets can be found at WSEX. which have some interesting bets.

there are many factors that probably go into how well a show does, I do not study it that hard however.

like number of screens, shows per day (est)., hype/promotion, competition for the weekend, even things like weather probably all play a factor.

the under on MIB II $80 million -170 won.
the movie did 54.1 million over the weekend. what helped the wager was that they released it on over 6000 screens on wednesday and on wed/thurs brought in $35 million. movie has brought in a total of $90 million for sony who is having a very good year in movies.

by the way another good movie I like is Glengary Glen Ross, good script, and great acting.

best war movie of 2001 is Black Hawk Down (have not seen the one on Mel Gisbon/vietnam)
Black Hawk Down is done really well, based on a true story.

playing Halloween over 8million -140
so I hope everyone goes out and checks out the film. I have not seen any of them.

looking at Crocidile Hunter at 9 million. but do not know how many screens it is going to be on.

I agree Anders it is the sports or events in North America that often get overlooked (or less attention).

I have won more off of soccer, car racing, golf, (WNBA), ect. than I ever will on the NFL.

congrats on your world cup thread Anders, great amount of information. for the movies use some info but mainly the dart board :D

thanks Anders and 60 sec assassin. I seem to be checking out the box receipts even if I have no money on the outcome. fun to see which films bombed or did well.

will probably pass this week, XXX is coming out and it will probably do well, seen enough comercials for it, still will pass.

by the way Road to Perdition was a good film and probably one of the best of the year. however would not rate it the next Godfather 1 or two. Would also easily put 5 other gangster related films ahead of it. still a good show.

Jude law does a great job and Hanks gets better as the film goes on. there was some flaws, some things are on the film that would not exist in 1931. also some stuff is a little far fetched, while quite a few things, but after all this is the movies.

by the way there is a joke that everyone laughed at in the theatre the son asks for some of the money they stole from the bank. he asks for $200, everyone laughed at the small amount, however in 1931 $200 was a lot of money, $1 a day was a good wage. Inflation :)

Nice work selkirk. I think you hit the nail on the head about finding value in the "lesser" sports and/or events. Keep it up man.

Play serving Sara -$2

Play serving Sara -$2

Films are tracking closer to $4 million apart, Sara's numbers going down while Simone's numbers are picking up but Simone only tracking with the over 30 crowd and they don't rush out to see the film openning weekend.

Sara was tracking over $6 million apart earlier in week but dropped a little in last 2 days.

Still think it will be at least $4 apart.

Good luck.
