Got our first estimate to move already boxed up goods and all belongings to Colorado. $10K ???? I was thinking $7,500 ? Does anyone know of a good moving company, one that takes care of your goods without raping you on pricing? I know it is a 1400 mile move. It just came in much higher than I thought, opinions and suggestions are welcome. Have plenty of time to get estimates as we do not move till October. Thanks in advance :0008

My buddy moved from Chicago to OKC, first quote he had was around 10k as well, he ended up paying 7200. Will try to find out who he used, but get several quotes and play one off the other.:0008

What does it cost for a private trucker with a semi move a load 1400 miles? It sure shouldn't cost $7500. You should be paying 3 guys about $120 an hour labor for loading and unloading. And unloading goes pretty fast.

I'm curious now.

Real quick search I found out trucking companies charge about $1.50 a mile to move shit and that includes everything.

$10K is ridiculous.

Figure a ridiculous amount for 3 guys loading and unloading at a high cost of $150 hour for 30 hours. No way it takes that long, no way. That's $4500. Then figure a high cost of $2.00 a mile to drive it there. $2800.

Total cost $7300. You were spot on with your estimate.

I thought so....Jesus man, the estimate was way out of line with mine. We have time and I hope to find someone that is honest and forthcoming with a realistic price on this!

On the course!
This is the first I heard about you moving. Are you doing it for work, or are you finally retiring? Hope it's the latter!

My daughter and SNL have moved twice, in last 3 years. Last time from West coast to East coast neither was that expensive, call ABF trucking, what they used both times.
